A simple vpn software that has features like teamviewer and for connecting behind firewalls and NAT, also doubles as a reverse ssh server
Isnt this simply a vpn? You mentioning teamviewer made me think this had a remote control component to it? I guess we just use RDP once connected to the neorouter?
Just reading through that, isn’t that almost exactly the opposite of what you’d want if you were self hosting? Or is there no reliance on the web hosted control panel and web client?
You want a VPN that is just a VPN. Add the other stuff but make sure your VPN app does one thing well
Teamviewer is not a VPN. It is a hosted remote spport solution. VPN is a good option for remotely accessing computers but it is very costly. Also, there is lot of traffic congestion while using VPN from places such as Airports, Hotels, etc. I would suggest using on premise remote support solutions like on premise R-HUB remote support servers. It works from behind the firewall, hence better security.
You have to host your own server, but they can provide a “domain name” for your public IP if you want
What are your use cases for NeoRuoter?
So it’s not tied back into their infrastructure? That might be more interesting…
it’s how our small company keeps all our internal services and computers connected since we work remotely on some projects.
i just tested starting a new server with flight mode on my pc and with localhost were able to connect without any problems.
so as far as i know its not tied back to their infrastructure
edit: says on the site: “You can run your own server independently and no traffic is relayed through a third-party server.” (http://www.neorouter.com/products-nrfree)
Are you selfhosting the service or are you using their cloud offering? This looks interesting.
we self host it on a small aws instance
Right on. I think I will give it a try. Thanks.
