Yeah, another +1 feature request for wireguard config generation. This is a major feature that has been requested 100ās/1000ās? of times over multiple years, yet there has been zero progress on its implementation.
Other providers do it just fine but with PIA you have to use 3rd party tools that only work until the keys are force changed.
So I guess my question is, Is this a feature that will ever be a thing via PIA?
What would you tell those who say āPIA, being a company based in the USA, would have to comply with the NSA if requested, while offshore VPN providers donātā?
First: Please update the NUMBER of servers and if they are gigabit or 10gig or more than add that as well.
Second: Why hasnāt the Transparency Report been updated? Also previous years stats are also missing, but there is no reason for this forced amnesia.
Third: Why is Chrome and Firefox extension of PIA neglected so much when a lot of users find it very useful?
The number of countries in the extension NEEDS to be increased, and we have been asking for this for YEARS without any progress from you guys.
Thoughts on this problem please. Been using the Linux version on Ubuntu 20.04 for a few years. Until V3.5 new versions would be a simple click Download then Install, provide pwd in the terminal window and job done. When 3.5.1 arrived it would download but Install just froze the app so I stuck with 3.5. When I saw 3.5.3 was available I thought Iād see if the problem had been resolved, this time clicking Install after the d/l froze the whole desktop and I had to reboot to recover. Not great. Presumably I could uninstall 3.5 and install 3.5.3 from fresh but Iām a somewhat wary of trying this if the problem is that these later versions are buggy as Iād lose a perfectly functional app and I assume 3.5 isnāt available to d/l from your site any more so I couldnāt rollback.
Iām still unable to take the updates, as it stalls on installing the network connection. Iām not terribly inconvenienced, as the older version works fine, still it would be nice to be current. Windows 10 64.
I am very happy with PIA, there are things that are missing and things that need improvement.
Wireguard Router Configuration, what are the problems implementing it?
Ipv6 where are you at?
Why do the logs always alert you when you connect to OpenVPN with routers?
Are you going to further improve the Android application and publish a guide on what permissions are needed to make it work properly?
SOCKS5 what problems are there in improving the service?
Is there a reason why in the last couple of months PIA sucks on iOS devices now, such as iPad Pro? It cuts out regularly, sometimes minutes apart, and if for some reason the server has an issue you canāt just kill the VPN in either Settings or in PIA app, itās now stuck there until the service comes back online.
Every time I have this issue it asks me to send a report, which I can;t do because the internet is effectively dead on the device until that service comes back, by which time Iāve already hard shut the iPad off and turned it on again. The dead page that didnāt load is now wiped at that point. If Iām lucky, i can get it to stop looking for VPN use before it connects just after boot up which then lets me figure out whatās wrong with the app.
Really hope you guys cans solve this. Tired of it cutting out after mere minutes and causing these types of headaches. Makes it very unreliable if Iām away from home and want security.
Otherwise it works great on my home pc, MacBook, and android devices.
I have contacted support. Support didnāt have a solution other than to uninstall and reinstall PIA.
I dove deep with PIA getting the longest subscription I could buy as well as investing in a static IP. I am a big believer in the program, however, I have a situation that needs addressing.
Why did this new update (v3.5.3 - build 07926) break my Split Tunnel?
Split tunnel programs have no internet at all now. When I turn off PIA, I have no Internet at all.
Both Kill Switch options are unchecked.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled PIA and I still have no split tunnel access and if PIA is disconnected, I have no internet connectivity at all.
Hey team, thanks for what you do, I appreciate it. A friend convinced me to sign up and have been using for some time, and my question is WHAT IS GOOGLEās DEAL? I have literally had to switch browsers and search engines, stop using chrome extensions all because of the:
āThis network is blocked due to unaddressed abuse complaints about malicious behavior. This page checks to see if itās really a human sending the requests and not a robot coming from this network.ā
Where I have to answer multiple captchaās at a time, sometimes passing, sometimes not, but always interrupting and preventing a decent web experience. Makes my desktop experience bad, but my mobile experience unbearable before switching everything out, and now avoiding using their stuff because of the hassle. Itās a pain enough that other members of my family are considering not using PIA because of how much grief Google is causing. Anything I can do to make the experience better for my family?
Hi u/Mighty_Mushroom. Firstly thanks for bringing it to our attention that our H1 2023 transparency report did not pull through onto our webpage - this was an oversight on our part.
the TLDR is:
A total of 276 legal requests were received over the first half of 2023, (broken down into 6 court orders; 125 subpoenas; 2 search warrants; 5 informal requests; 65 foreign notices; 39 state notices; 34 federal notices)
this is compared to a total of 166 from the previous report from July - Dec 2022.
As always, no logs could be produced in response to these requests due to our strict No Logs Policy and the fact that we do not collect or retain any usage logs - our network architecture featuring RAM-only servers was designed specifically to prevent this.
In order to provide more regular updates, we are now going to share quarterly transparency reports. Our website has been updated to show the legal requests received during Q3 2023 which can be found here: https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/about-us#transparency-report This will be updated with the figures for Q4 2023 shortly.
We understand wanting to dig deeper into the details. Unfortunately, our reports provide the fullest extent of what we can legally share. We canāt legally share the details of specific orders. These are sent directly to our legal team and must be kept confidential because theyāre legal requests about specific individuals. This is why we can only publicly report on the number of requests of different types received over a particular period, and whether we produced any logs in response.
Hey u/breakwinz thanks for the question! This shouldnāt be the case as our streaming servers are only meant to be streaming optimised as opposed to for downloads. In major locations such as London we do have multiple data centers - so it may be that on a given day one of these server locations was experiencing better speeds than the other, even within the same city
