I’ve been having this issue but I assumed it wast was because I’m on the latest MacOS Sequoia Dev Beta. However for me it’s affecting all Apple services, calendar, reminders and message to name a few.
I’m having issues with the new update too, I updated and now the VPN loads in an endless cycle.
I reinstalled the version before the update, (2024.3) and it works.
I’m using Macos Monterey 12.7.4
Yeah, same thing for me it’s any version above Sonoma 14.5. Something definitely changed in Sonoma 14.6.1 (23G93). The News app seems to be the only apple service affected.
Not only with Mullvad, but other vpns as well. Only temp workaround that worked for me is using IKEv2 w/ a different vpn but want to go back to Mullvad ASAP. Hope the bug gets fixed soon

a sorta workaround is to use mullvad through the Wireguard app but i want to use the official app
Edit: changed solution to workaround. its not a solution!
This is interesting as I have had same experience. Have anyone raised this with Mullvad?

Something definitely changed in Sonoma 14.6.1 (23G93).
No problems here using the older Ventura.
Started with 14.6 for me. No stocks news (default stocks.app) or AppleNews.
Not fixed with MacOS 15.1 Beta
I’ll just downgrade cause I dont really have time for this, I just moved 2,000 miles away in a new city
It’s all VPN’s, not just Mullvad. I’m on PIA and it’s doing the exact same thing.
I honestly am leaning more towards an Apple bug since, from what I can tell, no other Apple service is affected other than Apple News. I could be 100% wrong, though
Yes, you can use 14.5 or older without any problems. once you upgrade to 14.6 or 14.6.1, that’s where Apple News/ VPN issues are.
Its been working fine with NordVPN but i wanna use Mullvad
