I just learned that Proton VPN doesn’t support Apple TV yet. Other VPNs use Smart DNS to get VPN on Apple TV.
Can any Proton user recommend a solution other than using VPN router ?
And why doesn’t Proton VPN have Smart DNS already ? Is it hard to implement ?

TVOS 17 is coming out soon and is expected to have local DNS support. I hope Proton VPN is ready for it. Other VPNs are already working on an app for the next TVOS 17

I just checked out multiple posts and found out that after all these years Proton still doesn’t support any smart VPN service, this is kind of insane.
The thread opened 150 days ago and still, they couldn’t develop this feature. What a shame 
If you can make it work on your iPhone or iPad then you can just mirror you device to the Apple TV.
It’s been awhile now, any solutions with Proton VPN on a Apple TV!
P.S. ProtonVPN needs to remove there reference article from there site since this misleading like click bait.

No App yet. Hope they release it soon.
In the meantime I’m using r/passepartout . It has a limited (4 hrs) free version to try. But you can add any VPN profile. I use Proton Wireguard and didn’t have any issues yet.

Still nothing from Proton team. Most of the big names like Express, Nord didn’t come out with an ATV app for some reason. VPN on Apple devices works differently somehow if I remember correctly. I’m sure they are working on it.
I’m using “VPN Client Bee” app in the mean time. You can use any VPN provider by uploading it’s WireGuard / OpenVPN config file locally to ATV from any computer connected to the same LAN as ATV.
It’s free to use the app this way. Please note I DO NOT endorse the BEE VPN in anyway. And cannot confirm if it’s secure to use ProtonVPN this way. But it works for me now.
I’m hoping more app like this or official WireGuard app comes to ATV soon.
