Has anyone else had this experience? Connecting to US servers. Start up a couple torrents. Couple of minutes later internet for the whole house stops working. Not just the desktop using nordvpn, all devices. TV (wired) will stop streaming Netflix/hulu, mobile phone on wifi shows no internet, other laptops show no internet connection. Disconnect NordVPN and wait about 1 to 2 minutes and everything starts working again. No rebooting the devices, no rebooting the AT&T gateway. Just starts working again.
*Update* RESOLVED!
After a very pleasant chat session with Cloud on the NordVPN support team we found that the issue goes away and things are working consistently after changing the protocol to NordLynx. For the windows client this is under settings → autoconnect, turn off “Choose VPN server and protocol automatically”, select NordLynx from the VPN protocol dropdown box. For the linux users out there run “nordvpn set technology nordlynx” in your terminal.
It sounds like your ISP may be trying to block VPN connections, I’d recommend swapping around the connection protocol to check if that makes a change. Aside from that, you may want to hit up the connectivity guys and gals over at NordVPN support.
Gotta be an ISP thing. I really hope Comcast doesn’t try to start doing this crap. With Net Neutrality gone, they can basically do whatever they want.
This fixed the same problem for me on ATT Fibre + NordVPN
In qbittorrent I also switched from Any Interface to Nordlynx in the advanced settings
Connection protocol did the trick and NordVPN support was very helpful
I can connect to Nord and browse just fine. Everything works like normal. But as soon as I start a torrent it kills the connection. Disconnect from the VPN and the connection comes back and the torrent resumes and finishes. Was testing with a Fedora Live ISO torrent. It lets my torrents go with no VPN. Almost as if they see high download speed with packets they can’t inspect and they just kill the connection.
