Auto VPN with Fire TV Stick

Hello all,
I’m using Tivimate on a Fire TV Stick with a VPN connection for security reasons. So far I was using it combined with a Gl.inet VPN router so that all traffic was going over the VPN and I could make use of the kill switch in case it’s not connected.
I started running a Plex server in my home a few weeks ago and I have massive issues with Plex traffic to my local server being router over that VPN as well of course. I am able to enter exceptions like all local addresses etc but it’s very hard to actually find all necessary exceptions.

So my actual question is: Is there any reliable way to configure the Fire TV stick in a way that Tivimate is only being used with a connected VPN but other apps are left out?
Best would be an automatic solution so that wife and kids don’t have to to activate it somehow.

Thanks!
Alex

I might be misunderstanding the issue but can you not use a VPN on the Firestick with split tunneling? Most VPNs offer split tunneling. Have it load on start up but only have Tivimate passing through it.

Thanks!
Hmm sounds like a quite easy solution tbh. I have subscriptions for NordVPN and AzireVPN. Will try later. But it it reliable and will IPTV really not work when VPN is off?

Nordvpn app allows you to decide what app goes vpn or not. I dont have a way to do it with your current vpn router setup

Depends entirely on where you live and whether your ISPs actively block known or suspected IPTV addresses.

I have nordvpn, how do I do it please?

To make it clear: It’s more about hiding my IP from the authorities than about throttling. I live in Germany and so far that’s not been an issue.
I just tried it with NordVPN and it seems to work great so far. After a reboot there’s about one minute without secure connection, but afterwards it’s established automatically.

About the split tunneling. I have tivimate on the right side under VPN enabled for these devices but iptv doesnt work.
