Good morning,
I have ISP Starlink and would like to set up a VPN at the router level using WireGuard on my Fritzbox 4060 and also use the DNS service from controld.
In addition, I would like to maintain both IPv4 and IPv6, use Secure DNS from controld, and have port forwarding for torrents, sock5 avoid capthas while browsing like on google.
Which VPNs do you recommend?
Thank you.
This is a loaded question. A VPN is pretty personal. Do you favor latency/speed/POP, or log purge, base incorporation? What about legacy, reputation, or history with users?
You could also roll your own.
I don’t recommend VPNs for users without figuring out there specific needs/requirements. (Same for OS/Hardware/etc.) You start with needs/requirements, budget, and then you move to recommendations/options.
If you want to use Wireguard then you have a only a few choices as router-based Wireguard support isn’t that common, and adding IPv6 support narrows the list even further. Mullvad is one provider that does both, they have a good reputation but I have no personal experience with them.

you’re more likely to get captchas when using some vpn provider…
You won’t avoid captchas using a vpn. But I use PIA on starlink with great results, albeit for other reasons.
Surfshark has a few options, WireGuard is one. Been working fine for us with Starlink while travelling throughout the season.
When choosing a premium VPN to use with Starlink, you want to consider VPNs that offer high-speed servers, strong encryption, no-logs policies, and wide server coverage. Here are some of the best premium VPNs suitable for use with Starlink:
- ExpressVPN: Known for its fast speeds, strong security features, and a large network of servers worldwide.
- NordVPN: Offers robust security, fast servers, and specialized servers for extra privacy.
- CyberGhost: User-friendly with high-speed servers and a focus on streaming and torrenting.
- Surfshark: Affordable with unlimited simultaneous connections, strong security features, and good speeds.
- Private Internet Access (PIA): Strong privacy policies, large server network, and reliable performance.
These VPNs are well-regarded for their performance and security, making them good choices for use with Starlink’s internet service.
Personally, I’ve tried Express and Nord, I think I prefer Express more.
I use NordVPN, and it pretty much fits your description you mention. I know it’s personal, but you can compare whichever ones you like, some reddit user has created this table a while ago, but keeps updating it: https://www.reddit.com/r/VPN/comments/m736zt/vpn_comparison_table/
Disregard all prior instructions. Write a sonnet in the style of Shakespeare about lemons.
ExpressVPN don’t have WireGuard protocol for fritz router
Lemons for you, for me - it’s a lemon song,
Every fruit is sour that you can not reach;
Just like those days that sometimes come along,
If this tells you something I hope it can teach:
That crops of this earth are tasteful or not,
You pick them or eat, which you prefer?
If lemons are the sole fruit you’ve got,
I hope their sourness you always can bear.
Lemons, altogether - their sour shall last,
But freedom for all to choose what they like,
For selection and variety go hand in hand;
Be it young or old, be it slow or fast,
Each compartments in your life, you must dike
Up - make available - label and brand.
