Hi reddit users. In my home internet speed is 1 gigabit, also I have a server on DigitalOcean with a speed of 9/2 gigabits. Which VPN protocol is the fastest?
P.S. Thanks, wireguard is realy fast.

Wireguard is fastest one
WireGuard or IPSec/IKEv2 are the fastest and more secure.
Zerotier is my go-to VPN
I stick work openVPN for now. Good read
and pretty easy to configure.
Zerotier is not a protocol but a company.
ZT uses Wireguard as the underlying base.
Yeah right. NordVPN is concerned about privacy. How ironic.
Can I ask why you’d stick to WireGuard given the article you posted? WireGuard has a number of pros listed, and the only cons against it relate directly to privacy which are of no concern to OP given he’s talking only of endpoints under his own control.
Wonder why you’re so downvoted. Ipsec/ike is just obsolete and has always been a disgusting piece of thing, Wireguard is great but for now still very young and lacks LOTS of features that roadwarrior setups may want. Openvpn is easy, safe/secure and can match ipsec in speeds if done well.
got OVPN as well and happy with it …
Haven’t tried connecting two WANs. I am using WG “server” at home (as docker container) and client is usually just my phone. Everything on my home LAN is accessible from my phone. No issues at all.
No, they don’t. They use a custom self-developed algorithm.
Where do you hear about NordVPN having poor privacy practices? I recently switched to using NordVPN and before I switched I spent quite a while searching online for any notable security leaks or evidence that they’re doing something shitty with your data. All I found was their security leak in 2019 where many people claim no important info was released and a claim from another VPN provider a few years ago that NordVPN sells your advertising data with no evidence
I’m already suspicious of it because how much they spend on advertising compared to other VPN services but they either do an extremely good job of hiding their issues or barely have any
EDIT: Deleted and moved to lemmy
You are probably thinking about Tailscale, which uses WG and offers something similar to ZT.
