Is it possible to block internet access to apps without using a VPN method?

I want to use Google One VPN, but I’ve tried some internet blocking apps that use a VPN service to filter out app requests and block it, so I can’t use Google One VPN at the same time. Is there another way to block internet access to apps without using a VPN?

Afaik no. Some other phones (like Asus Zenfone) have this option, but I couldn’t find it on my pixel 7. I guess this would be possible if you root the phone, but that is whole different thing.

Maybe you can turn off background data by long pressing the apps icon

You need root. I use an app called AFwall+.

I just switched to the Google pixel because there was no real alternative phone available. I wasn’t overly happy with it, but this is already the second annoying feature… I’m sure this list will oh grow.

I was able to deny apps Internet access on my Huawei very easily. But pixel doesn’t have this option.

AFwall+ just refuses to work for me. As soon as I click “enable firewall”, it kills my wifi connection to all apps. I’m rooted.

Thanks but I’ve tried it and it behaves as a VPN. So I’m not able to use my Google VPN if I’m using NetGuard.

It’ll surely grow because Pixel is like having minimal features by default making it a very smooth experience. But in terms of features, you’ll definitely need an app for the feature you expect.

I don’t use a VPN all the time on my phone, so idk. Maybe something else will work for you.

You could try blocking individual domains, use Nextdns.

Imo running your own wireguard VPN is better bc speed limits are annoying.
