Can no longer login to Hulu on my MacBook Pro "Error: Your login has been blocked. "

Hi there! I use Hulu on Chrome on my MacBook Pro all the time but now when I try to login it says “Error: Your login has been blocked.”

Context:

  • I recently moved apartments (7 days) but have been using it no problem that whole time
  • It does not work across Chrome, Safari, incognito, etc.
  • Right before it stopped working it was giving me the “you’re on a proxy or VPN we cannot play” error so I quit and relaunched chrome, then the issue started.
  • I am not on any sort of VPN as far as I know
  • It works fine logging in on my phone on the same wireless network (in-app or through chrome)
  • Cleared cache and cookies (but I’m using different browsers and it still wont work
  • Restarted laptop

It seems to be like my whole laptop’s IP address has suddenly been deemed to be on a “do not login list” and I dunno how to get off! Any help is appreciated.

Having the same issue - only I haven’t moved apartments / changed anything.

After a very frustrating time I figured out what was causing this exact error for me, at least. My computer was connecting to Hulu using IPv6 and it didn’t like that. After disabling IPv6 it worked. I was using macOS Big Sur, so I had to use the terminal to say “networksetup -setv6off Wi-Fi” in my case. It varies for OS and version so you may have to search around to find where the setting is or what command to use.

Hey u/kathbagels, I think I may have found out what caused it but I might be totally wrong. My company made us all install something called Netscope Client recently on our computers and I think that has been messing with my IP address. I am able to disable it temporarily and that seemed to stop the issue.
