Hi all
My mum keeps having problems with her channels. I installed tivimate onto a firestick 4k MAX.
Every so often the channels stop working and comes up with error messages like the retrying at the bottom then after so long a message in the middle.
Iv ran a broadband speed test and that’s good
Iv updated tivivmate
Iv updated her firestick
Iv updated her tv software ( it’s an LG il have get model number if anyone need it to better advice)
I doubt it’s a supplier issue as I have the same supplier for my TV channels at home and my daugthers projector and it all works fine ( don’t use firesticks on these setups)
Today after speaking to supplier i tried a free VPN ( only as none of us had money pay for one at moment) and when I turned the VPN on the channels works perfectly fine then I turned VPN off and none of the channels worked
Before I left my mums I made sure the VPN was on then my mum rang saying tv channels have stopped working with previous errors but VPN is still on
The supplier tried giving me some new URLS to try but same problem
I’m just wondered if anybody could advice on any possible settings I could try changing either on the firestick
Tv.
Or tivimate itself
I’m thinking it’s a problem with the setup somehow but not sure what?
If you get no channels with the vpn off, that’s her internet provider blocking the server. The free VPN may be worth exactly what you’re pay for it. When no channels work, she can try disconnecting and reconnecting the vpn.
For the original question about individual channels stopping, that will be your IPTV provider. You should ask him at the time it is happening so he can check the feed.
Sure sounds like it’s a provider issue but before you try another one, switch the country on the VPN. Simply turning it on doesn’t solve it if the ip is linked to a banned country - try different geo areas and see if it works.
You can try changing the location your VPN is connecting to if your free VPN allows that. A paid VPN is probably going to be much better though Surfshark works very well and is easy to install with fire TV devices since it’s actually in their app store. I had an issue with one specific provider that all of the sudden stopped working and I tried everything I could and then I turned off my VPN and it magically worked and when I turned my VPN back on even connecting to the same location it’s been fine since so sometimes there might just be a weird issue between the VPN and your provider. It does seem quite likely that her ISP does block so a VPN is probably necessary.
Usually free VPN"s only allow a limited usage, like X amount of usage per day/ week/ month, so if you are running it for several hours you may have used the limit and it can just disconnect. Try Surfshark or Nord, it might seem expensive, but you can just connect and leave them turned on, plus they usually allow 5+ simultaneous connections depending on your sub, so you can all share one sub. There is also an app called Monitor Dot you can install, which will show a small green box on the corner of the screen when VPN is connected or a red one when disconnected. Some routers also allow the installation of a VPN and you can set it up so that everything runs through it or just specific apps, like TiviMate.
provider or her Internet sucks, it’s not a tivimate issue.
I’m fairly new to IPTV but have since learned that turning VPN on/off can make a huge difference. I run Tivimate app on my TV and sometimes for no reason it would stop working. But as soon as I turn on VPN, all the channels run smooth as butter. I’ll stopped trying to understand the ‘why’.
PS - can you share with me the free VPN you use? A friend who can’t afford paid VPN is looking… thanks
your provider should be sharing that
but… simple fs 4k max unlock Google search will help
When I first put the VPN on all the channels where working for a short space of time. Soon as I turn the VPN off all channels stopped.
But when I left my mums I made sure the VPN was on but she rang later saying her channels and stopped n she confirmed the VPN was on.
But il change the country see if that helps
I had the same issue with mine stopping even with Nord connected, my provider had updated something and told me to connect to Netherlands, Hong Kong or Singapore when this happens. After connecting as suggested everything worked fine, and the next day I could re connect to my usual area without issue, so I just do this first any time I lose service.
The provider works perfectly fine at mine with no problems at all. So must be her Internet provider blocking it as when I enable the vpn it works fine
What settings? I’m listening…
Connecting to your provider servers isn’t a setting you can adjust
Any settings u advice on tweaking? I don’t have a clue with firesticks l
sometimes its as simple as using another DNS (google, opendns, etc) and other times yes a VPN is needed
