Could probably avoid this. Log off from zscaler the time to connect VPN. My question is more technical. Maybe zscaler is capable of tracking and reporting my location even if I have a VPN ON since it’s installed in my own pc…
Any time you connect to any Microsoft, Google, zscaler etc. your IP is logged. This is then matched to a geolocation. Typically accurate within a small county or town.
My clients have blocked access from elsewhere in the world without pre approval for travel with IT where we temporarily allow access from other countries for that user.
Does this mean if I don’t “reauthenticate” my Z scaler they won’t be able to see my location? Asking because I need to travel out of the country for 48hrs and only 1 of those days is a work day. I don’t want to get in trouble for checking my emails.
It really depends on your company and their practices. It logs it every time regardless if you re authenticate. If you access any work resources it will have a log of where it was from.
Email, vpn etc all will be passed through the system. Just getting email on your phone after a flight will show your new location.
Whether anyone checks or cares is up to your company security settings. Some will flag your account at risk and maybe lock you out. Others won’t even notice, it really does depend on what’s set.
The only thing that I’m sure of is that the logs will exist.
