For people caught using VPN, were you warned or fired?

Well from my personal experience, they deleted my account without telling me and then never replied to any of my support tickets. Then when I sent physical mail it was rejected too. Eventually I got through via direct email and found out why I couldn’t log in anymore.

Anyways, to answer your question completely, StarVPN claims they have residential IPs and that they are clean, but if you are a customer you will occasionally get emails about IPs (like yours) may undergo some “cleaning”. Meaning, if they detect an IP is getting flagged for being a VPN or some malicious activity, they will remove it from the pool. Whether or not they do this fast enough is what you have to trust, and it’s why I don’t really recommend them ultimately. If it’s your only option, then it is what it is.

Yeahhh I was hesitant to mention them because they’re known for the regular VPN. Only recently I believe they started offering a residential VPN service. I don’t know how trustworthy it is sorry.

Do they claim to have a residential IP service? I imagined they only had database IP addresses.

Yeah I mean I’ll totally take that one on the chin this time. I was just struck by that thought like a clever little lightning bolt, that maybe wasn’t so clever.

are you bored again? Go find something else to do  our website is legit

The connection I’m at currently is 100 Mbps. The connection where the exit node is located is 50 mbps.
I worked for a week in the same city as the exit node and the speed was fine. But now that I’m in a different country, the speed is super slow to an extent that even basic website take a long time to load. I can’t work at this speed. Any suggestions?

Maybe but like I said there are many reasons for it, people in IT do all kinds of things at home so I don’t see an issue with it.

absolutely not. taking advantage of people like you do is terrible

The problem is probably related to your internet on the travel side.

That said, when i switched from Tailscale on a Raspberry Pi to Wireguard on a dedicated GLi.net router, I did notice a bump in my connection speed. If you do this long term, I recommend getting fiber internet on the host side.

I agree with the other commenter. AWS/etc. is/are a known IP block, so it could get flagged easily. It’s definitely not what I would prefer to do, but if it’s your only option because you don’t have a house or friend where you’re supposed to be, then I guess it’s your only option besides StarVPN which claims to have residential IPs.

You need to understand the difference between residential IP addresses and database IP addresses and the consequences of using that on work-managed devices. Employer IT depts do not want VPNs on their network resources and take measures to block/prevent that. You need to look like you’re at home if you want to hide.

You can now subscribe to access your own personal custom DERP relay server here for use with Tailscale exit nodes. Or of course host your own if you’re able to do it yourself. This will give you the same speeds as a regular WireGuard setup, negligible difference.

thanks for the insight. never even knew there’s a difference. Will look into it
