Tried multiple clients and machines. Just keeps dropping and failing to reconnect.
I don’t think it is a “me” thing… or an ISP thing. It is just too intermittent.
Would consider going paid if I thought it might be better. Dunno.

I think everyone is using the free servers. When downloading configs I always see them at 100%
You get what you pay for. Proton unlimited has been worth every Penny.
it’s a free service what do you expect?
yeah, high load, seems to have got worse but even those in the 80% range seem problematic.
for me, it seemed like with the permanent kill switch enabled, it (linux app) struggled to login.
tbf. proton should maybe consider some more restrictions if the free tier is struggling bad, unlimited streaming seems generous. even JP servers seem full.
True haven’t looked back, and with added simple login premuim to boot is a good deal
yeah. fair enough. I was just commenting about how much worse it has gotten recently… and asking if paid users also had issues. I dont mind paying (extra features are useful) but not if it is as unreliable as I am currently finding it
btw…I run Linux which is not particularly well supported. but never had a problem until the past week or two.
nevermind. will look elsewhere.
I haven’t had any issues, use it daily and have some devices on network connected to it all day. I am paid user btw
I run most of my devices on VPN through my router firmware and haven’t noticed any issues there or in the few I actually run mobile apps on. Been awhile since I tried the client directly on Linux but all else has been solid on my subscription recently
which os ? if you don’t mind me asking….
linux used to be rock solid (lacking some features) but reliable. maybe I will spin up a Windows install to check.
Agreed, i also haven’t see any real difference or issues whether I am running proton own software client on windows or the device is covered by my router open vpn proton setup. Both have been rock solid. Now and again if i am doing a lot big downloads i might sometimes switch servers get better speed but it happens rarely. But it a pretty common thing with all vpn providers too, sometimes when you jion a server the server load low and hours later it can be high. It also helps not use secure core if you want best speed for downloads, i only use secure core for the most private or sensitive things.
Dont mind at all, primarily windows 10, rarely linux mint.
I also run it on my asus router with proton open vpn config so i can apply vpn clients to devices not supported natively.
