I live in a country that blocks pornographic websites, and they’ve already started blocking sites like MoeMate and Crush
So if this issue doesn’t get fixed anytime soon and Chub gets blocked in my country I’ll be MAJORLY bummed
Which VPN? We have to block a lot of them whenever we’re being actively DDOS’d/attacked which is pretty often, but they shouldn’t be blocked right now.

Likewise (riseup vpn), it’s working just fine for me. It’s probably just OP’s VPN or the server having issues. No idea about proxies though, haven’t used one since using coolmath games on school wifi 
Upon further examination it wasn’t my VPN causing the issues, but my Bionic Reading extension
