I tried expressvpn, nordvpn, windscribe, and surfshark on my shield. Surfshark worked the best. Auto connects and works with many streaming services. The other three had noticeable dips in 4K streaming quality or took forever to ramp up to 4K quality.

It did not work on any live TV streaming service that I tried it on. I did not try VOD streaming services. Their tech support had me try a few different servers that were allegedly designed for streaming, but none of them worked. Surfshark also made it difficult to cancel. It took me two weeks to cancel and get the refund I was due. I would never recommend them to anyone.

I have tried most of the large VPN companies and none of them worked with Sling TV, DirecTV Stream, or Fubo, even when using their “streaming optimized” servers.

The streaming services know which IP addresses belong to VPN companies and they block them. You can even look them up online yourself. I would try a smaller , lesser-known VPN. Try one with a free trial. If that fails, move onto the next one.

I am using it now. It works well on Shield TV 2015. I believe so 2019.

I used AdguardVPN and Windscribe on my Nvidia Shield TV. They worked fine. I now use the Google Streamer and the VPNs still work.

If you want to use Surfshark. There are cheap deals, search the internet. (I posted a link to a deal, but now understand I can’t do that. Sorry!)

I use it but you have to whitelist Disney+ and Netflix is touchy to the point where i need to whitelist it too. Which is a shame because inappreciated using different servers for dofferent content.

I agree I’ve tried Mullvad, proton and Surfshark and Surfshark is best for android tv in my experience. Different story on PC if you plan on using it there too tho.

I have a subscription to north vpn and my internet connection is 100 Mbit/s but I don’t know why I have trouble playing videos in 4k
