I wanted to get a vpn and thought about ExpressVPN but i found out there was some drama with Kape in 2021 so is it safe to use now? Or should i switch to a different one like NordVPN or Mullvad as others have suggested?
Proton VPN has port forwarding.
It’s fine. I have been using express for 3 years downloading every day and not a single dmca yet.
I use Proton. They have a Christmas deal on right now on Proton Unlimited.
this post has some good analysis on VPN recommendations for torrenting https://www.reddit.com/r/VPNTorrents/comments/rikthc/list_of_recommended_vpns_2022/ (updated June 2023)
Nord, Express or Mullvad don’t have port forwarding so they are not ideal for torrenting
who is getting paid to downvote every AirVPN comment lmao
its fine. but its more expensive than many others which are also fine.
I use express, no issues with it 5 years in. I don’t know if it’s the best but it works well enough

PureVPN is pretty good. Been using for 4 years
Just do Mullvad. Nord and Express sell your data and heavily in bed with ISPs.
Edit: just google “vpns sell data” and read away. I’m not doing your research for you. I’m just telling you what I know. Why do you think Nord and Express are peddled so hard.
VPN is a waste of money. i have better things to buy for about 10 euro per month.
here in germany, im seeding 300 torrents with 2MByte/s, no problem. PIA-VPN did limit my upload to 1MByte/s. of course i got some “cease and desist requests”, and first i gave them a “cease and desist promise” (that i will never upload that file again) but i never paid them any money for “damage repair”, zero.
for about 2 years now, i simply ignore all these “cease and desist requests”, they go straight to trash.
these lawyers want money, but i have never have paid, so they move on to “easy prey”, people who prefer to pay 1000 euro for “damage repair” instead of doing some basic research. see also https://www.reddit.com/r/qBittorrent/comments/s91u69/comment/k8yfchh/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
Mullvad is pretty good, it doesn’t support port forwarding but you don’t absolutely have to set it up, not unless you’re actively downloading torrents with 3 seeds.
Bruz Google cheap Nord account for sale. Simple stuff fuch paying full price
tip: vpn everything instead of using a rule book
I use UrbanVPN since it’s free. No idea if it’s good or not. Might wanna switch to air vpn though.
I would go with mullvad or proton vpn, they have proven to be excellent when it comes to VPN and torrenting. The fact that ExpressVPN is based on an apartheid state is a deal breaker even if they were the best, and they’re not obviously.
Rule of thumb: Don’t spend money on whoever is advertising the most; you’re paying for the ads you saw. Nord, Express, nigh on anyone that a youtuber has plugged is probably not a good bet. Proton, like others mentioned, would be my recommendation, but mostly just, not the “big ones.”
Another day of thanking god I live in a third world country, so I don’t have to worry or use vpn when torrenting
Is a VPN without port forwarding useless to prevent ‘getting caught’?
