How secure is Mozilla VPN?

I’m using a Pixel 6a, Android 13, Mozilla VPN is connected. If I go to the home screen and swipe down, then swipe down again, there’s a little note at the bottom about the VPN. If I tap it, this weird message pops up. I’ve checked in the VPN settings and there’s only the option to keep it on permanently, but nothing about protecting my emails and browsing.

Anyone have insight on this? I’m connected to the WiFi at work, using the VPN. Can our IT admins see my emails and browsing activity?

The “your IT admin” in that message means “the admin of that VPN”. And they can see with which servers you communicate and how much data you exchange with these servers, but the can’t see the data itself (unless the apps you use don’t use transport encryption).

Ohh, that makes sense. Thanks for the info!

unless the apps you use don’t use transport encryption

or they can pull off a MITM attack

That’s not really possible if the app uses transport encryption correctly.

In terms of browsing, just about everything uses HTTPS at this point.

MITM would only be possible with plain HTTP.
