How to get a vpn when my dorm internet blocks all vpn websites?

I live on campus at a university and the internet here has all (That I have tried) vpn websites blocked. I also don’t have a mobile hotspot that I can connect to. Any help would be appreciated.

You can create your own vpn. Just buy a cloud linux server for $5/month from any provider (DigitalOcean is a popular one) and install the vpn software on it. You install the client on your laptop and phone and now your traffic is routed thru that cloud server.

Lots of advice already on how you could download a VPN client and subscribe to a VPN service. However, if they are blocking VPN websites there is a chance that even if you were to use one of the methods described to subscribe to a VPN service that it wouldn’t work as the ports you need for a VPN are blocked.

If you do use one of the methods described make sure to get a service that offers a full refund or a trial just to make sure that you can actually connect.

Can’t you ask someone to send you the installer file via email or upload it to their cloud and send you the link?

Or you could download it from a public WiFi? No coffee shops nearby?

Go find free wifi somewhere outside of campus and buy a VPN. If you can tether from your phone, I think that would work as well.

just… connect to hotspot and buy it? Not rocket science.

Have you tried the windows store? Not sure if there is VPN’s there

I’ve been trying to defeat my home firewall for fun, a Firewalla Gold . So far it basiaclly blocks everything, or let’s me know shady crap is going on to block.
I’ll have to try shadowsocks.

download it on your phone and email to yourself

This is what I did since my school blocked all vpn websites. If your school even has DeepPacketInspection, try shadowsocks on port 443(80 too), I used vultr’s cheapest option and it worked amazing

then you can just change the VPN port to something that would never be blocked, such as Port 80

If you want a very good value for money budget VPS, ionos.co.uk is the way to go. My current plan with them is £3 a month for 18GB 6core.
Although the customer service, user experience, or internet speed is lacking.( You would have expected that from the price).

Vultr gave me a 1000mbps connection, but ionos only gave me a 600mbps, but its value for money is unbeatable.
(Disclaimer: not an ad, I could go on for a long time ionos’ bad parts)

Commercial VPN providers may not even give you the opportunity to change the port but if VPN use is blocked then it is likely that it will be done by blocking UDP traffic on everything other than Port 53 (DNS) and only allowing TCP traffic on certain ports (80,443).

If the OP can find a VPN service that allows VPN over both TCP & UDP and also allows the user to choose which port the VPN is used on then the suggestion of using port 80 should work.
