HOW TO: Unlock the game on Steam *right now* through VPN

So I just tried this and it works fine:

  1. Get a VPN, I used TunnelBear since it has a free 500mb monthly trial: https://www.tunnelbear.com/download/
  2. Make sure you have the game pre-loaded before connecting to a VPN so it doesn’t use up the VPN
  3. Close Steam before connecting to a VPN location
  4. Select New Zealand as VPN location in TunnelBear
  5. After being connected start up Steam again
  6. Steam will trigger an update for the game which will start unpacking it, might take a little while
  7. Boot up the game while VPN is still active
  8. After you’re in the main menu close the VPN so it doesn’t use background data.

You probably don’t want to play online through the VPN, because it could be very laggy.

Also it might give you a connection error in the game, so possibly only the singleplayer is available until official region launch.

Before doing this just know that this is breaking Steam Subscriber Agreement and they have the right to terminate your account even though its unlikely.

I’ve attempted this with NordVPN and TunnelBear, still shows as not available for me.

Keeps telling me item not available and it says its looking to download something still (even though my steam download says 26.3/26.3 gb)

This isn’t working for me. I’m using TunnelBear and I’ve tried both New Zealand and Australia. I removed the authenticator on my phone. Then I put my phone on a VPN and re-added the authenticator. I also set my computer’s time to match both NZ and Aus but nothing unlocks the game for me.

Any luck getting it to install once you are able to launch? My in game installation is stuck at 68%.

Mine just started unpacking.
At first the trick didn’t work, but after I changed my PCs time to Australian time, it finally worked (maybe that last part is a coincidence, but its worth a shot)

Works for me on Steam using ExpressVPN

Exit steam
Set to australia on vpn
Open steam

Game launches fine - though it says cant connect to EA servers so I can only do offline

Tried all the tricks with phone VPN and PC VPN. Could not get anything to work. It even showed NZ as the download region.

For xbox, if you pre-bought and the XBOX is telling you to wait, set your time zone to New Zealand, and it’ll load.
