I dont get why Tor is so slow (Im a Tor noob)

So I got 2 issues:

- On pc I use Brave browser, and when I open a incognito tab with Tor, its all slow has hell.

- On mobile I installed Tor browser, it takes ages to load any page, and when it finishes half the stuff is missing, plus pressing on any part of the page would not do anything.

Do i have to configure/code stuff on Tor for it work good? Or is Tor so slow cause its always running security protocols? Im a bit confused

Its not like Im an expert on Tor stuff, I just want a browser that isnt a chromium, and I only know it is used for the dark web, but that is not my intention. (even unsure if that is a wrong preconception I have about Tor)

When you use Tor, the browser sends your traffic in encrypted layers through three servers often in different parts of the world. It does this to help you stay anonymous from the websites you visit and the people snooping on your internet connection. The price you pay for this anonymity is a user experience that is quite slower than a regular browser.

If all of this isnā€™t that important for you, you may want to look into a more regular browser. You say you ā€œjust want a browser that isnt a chromiumā€, and Firefox is a popular choice there. There is also a hardened version of it called LibreWolf.

Well, the nature of ā€˜onion routingā€™ itself will cause a slightly slower browser experience considering youā€™re being bounced off 3 relays before going to the destination. Shouldnā€™t be anything drastic though, unless Tor is getting dossed. I think itā€™s going to largely depend on your own internet connection. Mine works great with Tor, but Iā€™m using a fiber wire. Wifi or cellular is bound to be much slower.

I wonder if you got trackers on the light web affecting activity on Tor. It can be the VPN too? Try clearing your cookie cache, resetting the device, and when using Tor? Selecting the fastest VPN connection may help alsoā€¦Iā€™m a novice too, but that helped me. Not saying these others are lying, but rather than troubleshooting thereā€™s a lot of information.

Use firefox if you dont want a chromium browser

upgrade your modem or router or change your ISP

Thank you for the reply.

Didnt knew Tor was doing all that, makes sense now.

Thanks for the reply.

But I guess those are not the issues.

On mobile it was a fresh install.

And on pc, because of youtube war on adblocks, I end up purging and clearing cache and cookies pretty often. (also those wouldnā€™t be on affect in incognito mode)

-----------

The VPN, possible, depends on the inbuilt VPN of tor, dont have any on my own. Maybe yah, need to check the settings.

well, after what they just did that isnt an option no more

Mullvad Browser (FF based) tries to combine best of both worlds, so another option to check out.

Hmm. Well Iā€™m glad youā€™re doing better! You mentioned a privacy focused browser, which is great; have you considered Duck Duck Go? Built to prevent those types of trackers?

Have used the search engine, but not much yet.
