iPhone 11 running iOS 16.2:
I began having issues with the 1.1.1.1 app last week, where it kept getting stuck in a loop between toggling on/off, giving me spotty internet connection. So I uninstalled the app, and while I could still connect to WiFi, it gave me the “No Internet Connection” error. This happened across locations - at home, work, and a friend’s house. I reinstalled the 1.1.1.1 app and set it back up, and now I can connect to the internet via WiFi again. But as soon as I disable or uninstall the app, I get “No Internet Connection” on WiFi once again. Oddly, internet via cellular data still works.
I’m stumped. Does the 1.1.1.1 app change some WiFi settings and not change them back when it’s disabled or uninstalled? I’ve tried all the basic stuff several times - turned my WiFi off and on again, turned my phone off and on again, forgot my WiFi network and reconnected, checked to make sure my DNS is configured to Automatic (it is), tried using a different service (NextDNS) - nothing has helped.
TLDR - WiFi only connects to the internet when I have the 1.1.1.1 app enabled. I don’t want to depend on this app for my WiFi to work, so I’m trying to figure out why this is happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
