iPad OS App Won’t Connect to my Sources unless I use a VPN

I could access all my library’s from every other source I tried, desktop, phone & even in safari on the same iPad but not the actual app…

This happened all of a sudden, it was working all day & then I paused for a while, came back and it just stopped working (on the app only)

I can’t quite pinpoint why, but after an hour or more of messing around with settings on my QNAP trying to fix it. I found using a VPN on my iPad “fixes” the issue… and makes the app able to access my libraries again.

Does anyone have a clue why this would be happening? I’ve never had an issue before and I use my iPad for Plex almost daily.

Only thing I did differently today was install the new .qpkg update but that was 10 hours previous to this happening.

Did you try to sign out and back in on the iPad app? To refresh the session.

Yes, tried switching accounts, uninstalling/ reinstalling, restarting. Ran all the usual bases but it’s still not working without running a VPN. Seems odd

What VPN? A commercial one (to contact/not contact some sites) or a personal one (like WireGuard, OpenVPN, Tailscale etc — access your home network remotely)?
