Is astrill lying ? details on the comments
Currently living in China, and everyone knows astrill is the best. But for the past years I have noticed a fall in their device management. Problem is two devices showing as four
First, I made sure that all devices were signed out of astrill whether that be windows or phone. Second I closed all their apps and signed in to the device management tool on their website (doing this is see no active accounts). Third I signed in only using one windows device and one android. Note both are using stealth not open. Which brings us here. Two devices showing as 4. So am I wrong or does astrill say they provid 5 working sessions for open not stealth .
This is a bit of a pain for my job and is kind of at the point of me recommending to others to move on to the next VPN in China.
Ps. I have contacted astrill about this countless times and they say just sign out and in and it should fix the problem. Nope help
Please be informed, when you connect VPN under “OpenVPN/StealthVPN or WireGuard”, it shows 2 sessions but counted as only 1 session. To make sure, connect StealthVPN on all 5 devices and you’ll see total 10 sessions in “Active Sessions”.
Whereas, if you connect OpenWeb, you’ll see only one session.
sorry but how did u get to your active sessions page. I can’t find it on the website.
Astrill “was” the best. That’s over, unfortunately. any free VPN still work better…
I haven’t done the investigations that you have, but I always find that iOS devices get kicked out regularly. So much so that I always logout-login-connect on them when I need Astrill to avoid it.
If that’s was the case then it would be fine. But it still kicks other devices out if you go over 5 devices. But if fine, I cancelled my account. Problem solve.

Sure, can you name “any free VPN” that will work better than Astrill in China? I’d love to give it a go.

Some friends tell me that Private Internet Access VPN works in China, but I don’t use it. Can’t tell you about the experience.
im still testing a few, I will post some feedback. i dont think its impossible to find one that doesn’t crash 17 times by day and make zoom call impossible ;))
