no, i sorta maybe installed malware on accident and mcafee did random things (while i didnt even had it before the malware). it changed whole settings and after i got it my laptop crashed 3 times.

Whatever tickles your fancy. I personally love McAfee as an antivirus, and I can confirm that it can make your computer run slow at some points (especially if 1. You have Real Time Scanning activated. 2. You have an extremely low-end personal computer.) But, overall it works pretty well.
No, the first step if it comes pre-installed is to uninstall and activate Defender/MSE.
if your new laptop comes with mcafee subscription then definitely use it till it expires
its a good antivirus ,check independent antivirus test ,it showed that is good as bitdefender or Kaspersky in terms of detection rate
The concept of an antivirus is dated. Some even argue if was never needed in the first place.
Now your Windows OS comes with Windows Defender. That plus your standard firewall is enough.
I suggest other AV solutions such as kaspersky, bitdefender, eset, f-secure and norton
