Is there a Free vpn for linux mint

I am using open VPN most of the time it work good but when I want to download a torrent file it doesn’t work … the main cause of search for another VPN is to download torrent

Proton VPN is good on Mint. They recently improved the app

“Free” always has some kind of costs, especially when there are real costs involved in it… Free VPN’s are generally a waste of time and are not really free, there is a cost you are “paying” in some way whether you realize it or not… most likely in advertising or have your data mined (hopefully anonymously).

If you need a VPN, get a paid one… ProtonVPN is excellent, but when I talk to people I find few really NEED a VPN, they just think they do… Why do you think you need a VPN?

Mullvad VPN, it’s 5 USD a month, honestly, I’m surprised more people don’t use it, it’s a really good product, I would hope that 5 bucks a month is in OP’s budget

I use SurfShark for torrenting on my Ubuntu server.

There are almost no proper non-sketchy free VPNs, and it is for good reasons. The only good reputable free offerings are from Proton and Windscribe. I’m not very sure about Proton allowing P2P connections on free tier. It disconnects in my Windows app. But you can try. Windscribe has 10GB limits.

Been using VPN Unlimited. Works fine on Linux.

It seems no one has offered the idea of using the free vpn in Opera browser, it works fine for torrents, I use it with Pirate Bay in the UK where PB is banned and have no problems…

Mullvad VPN has a Debian package that will work great with Mint.

I have a Proton VNP…works fine. Even with the free Proton mail acct. the VPN is included. It does have some connection location limits with the free version.

Dont use a free VPN ever, i use PrivateInternetAccess(PIA) and Mullvad , Proton is good if you have email acc

PIA lots of server choices and you can bypass tunnel things like steam an games accounts to stop latency etc

For security (anom) Mullvad is garanteed no data collection, uploads speeds are incredible if you need it

theres also an onion link for Mullvad purchase, if your a torrenter or DM never use Nord,Esspress,Surfshark etc

these have data and geo location right from the app installed on your PC and its being sent somewhere,

if your not a high risk user then it doesnt matter but people need to be aware as a large company has been buying up all the vpn providers

You could try ProtonVPN, but for your use case it’s best to get a reputable paid VPN. I’d prefer to help you in a PM since this discussion is probably not allowed in this subreddit.

Just get a paid one, they aren’t expensive. Stay away from the big corpo VPNs like Nord/surfshark/etc. Mullvad and iVPN are both pretty good.

One thing to keep in mind when choosing is that some VPNs store logs, and some don’t store logs.

Nothing will work if you’re in Iran. LOL

personally use cloudflare warp, works great. though i did use an unofficial client to generate a wireguard config, and now i just use it through wg-quick

Translation: “Help me pirate stuff, I’m too dumb to figure it out on my own.”

Not exactly answering your question, but Brave browser has a Tor option built in which hides your address, etc. You can choose a Tor VPN from the browser also, although it is only a free trial.

shows could not find package for me

It doesn’t support P2P on free tier though, which is what OP needs. In my case the app just disconnects on Windows if I try to run any P2P stuff.
