Will I get into trouble or anything? I’m an Ontario resident but if I’m traveling abroad, the place I’m at may not allow online gambling and OLG would definitely bar access if it knew I was outside Ontario. So is this slap-on-the-wrist territory or a big no-no? I’d be playing from the same computer I gamble from when in Ontario.
If they find out your accounts are cooked
Aside from it being illegal, these sites will do anything not to pay out. Let’s say you get lucky and win “big”. If there’s any scrutiny as to your actual location; if they find out that your using a VPN, they will certainly use that as a reason to not pay out. You will have broken the site’s T&C’s. Just food for thought.

Idk bout the first question… I remember when pokerstars got banned in the states, ppl were trying every method to get on the tables, pokerstars was banning people like crazy. Im sure it still happens today.
But I’ve heard from friends when traveling, just use a vpn on your device and use stake.com or some other reputable crypto site while abroad.
I kinda find it hard to believe they would have enough access to your home computer to know you are gambling using Google/Windows’s remote access. This is not something like a vpn service so for all intensive purposes your computer is legitimately gaming from an acceptable location.
Like I wouldn’t even get back the money won?
Truth. Friend used a crypto site with a VPN whilst in Ontario… won 300k … they found he used a VPN and instantly took all the money won on slots he used a VPN on. He only ended up cashing out 30k after it being held for a month and continuing to gamble whilst waiting for whatever they left to clear.
Gotcha. Better be safe than sorry
That’s what I was thinking but apparently they can detect there’s Remote Desktop software running?
Canada doesn’t have federal prisons. Does that mean I’m in the clear?
Even worse straight to the gulag. Jokes aside the worst that could happen is you get your account restricted if they somehow find out you’re using a vpn.
Ah yeah so I wouldn’t be using a VPN. Just remote accessing my desktop and moving the mouse around and all that so from their perspective it’s just someone sitting in Ontario
Then I really can’t see any issue with that besides the terrible RTP of the lottery! But to each their own best of luck to you.
Most if not all regulated sports books won’t geolocate you with any type of remote login turned on.
Oh it’d be roulette for fun
So I cannot use a VNC server to remotely control my computer, go to the web browser, play my game, etc.?
