Signed up this week as part of renewing my VPN subscription. Probably shame on me that I didn’t check any reviews but the VPN has a good reputation so I put my trust in them.
Just in the last few minutes:
Takes about 15 seconds to log in
The autofill disappeared completely from all websites when I tried to log in to my web hosting platform, twice
I figure I’ve imported over 1000 passwords and at this stage a lot of them are probably not necessary, so I’ll do a purge in case that’s part of the problem. First I can’t find the dashboard easily, then takes about 30-40 seconds for the extension page to open from the ‘login’ link on the website.
The dashboard is slow to react to inputs, over a second for hover states to appear and checkboxes to tick
I try to delete the first batch of passwords: ‘there was an error adding these to the trash’. Try a single password, same thing.
I’ve not even tried to use the other features yet but seriously considering a refund, this is borderline unusable.
Chrome extension on OS X Monterrey.
Am I missing something? Maybe I should have read this
This is the least user friendly product I have seen in ages. Two master passwords (one for NordAccount, one for NordPass), having to sign in to NordPass every time you restart, then it crashes, or does not let you sign in. And then it does not propose auto-fill. You can add to that the extension not working properly or even at all…
Could be specific issues with Mac product version of Nord. I’m a Windows user and haven’t experiences any issues you described with NordPass for Windows. Works very fast and no errors. Been happily using it for 2+ years.
It is unreliable and nowhere near as good as Dashlane and 1Password.
I tried to save some money after years with Dashlane (2 years of Nordpass was less than the price of a year of Dashlane), but, it only took me a few hours to realise that it was a mistake. Applied for a refund.
Now, I just hope they do actually refund without much hassle as they agreed to it immediately.
And yes, the browser extension is slow, half-baked and they have no plans for Universal Native Autofill on Mac yet. I haven’t tried it with Windows, so I can’t say how it is on there. Does work fine and reliably on Android though, I’ll give them that much… and the apps are pretty well polished.
Android app autofill just doesn’t work, VPN awful on both Windows and Android. Nordpass and VPN authentication is a complete mess. I have up with both, now using Adguard for VPN and Dashlane for password management
I’ve been running NordPass for 6-9 months. Have had problems with it being slow to load up (Windows) and it doesn’t stay logged in even with the options checked. Doesn’t remember if I ask it not to autofill for a site either.
Have been going back and forth with support for a couple of months but they seem to be totally useless and haven’t resolved the issue.
Hye u/CuteKerryHooer - from nordpass here. happy to resolve your issues
first things first- it seems to me you are on our legacy experience, where you need the desktop app to use the extensions
we recently launched a standalone experience so both the desktop and extension can work independent of each other. you can go to nordpass.com/download on your browser to download the standalone extention.
Once you are in our standalone experience, you shouldn’t be seeing these performance hiccups
Hmm. I have used NordPass for several years on about eight different PCs running Windows 10 and 11 and I’ve never seen any of these problems. I like NordPass very much because of the attractive design, appealing user experience and because the feature set meets my needs just about perfectly. The apps load quickly for — as fast as Bitwarden (which I also use regularly) or RoboForm and 1Password (which I use less often).
As I said, I’m on PCs (and have an Android phone). But I got the impression Nord products worked fine on Macs, too. If I were experiencing what you’ve described, I might indeed abandon the product (not unreasonable), but if these problems arose for me now after I have a very positive view of it from my experience, I’d uninstall, re-download and re-install.
My one complaint has to do with the double-login (one for my Nord account, and one for NordPass itself). That’s become less of a problem for me since NordPass has gotten so good at bioauthentication on my computers.
Anyway to answer your question, No, NordPass is not a heap of sh*t.
I’ve found Nordpass unusable on my M1 MacBook Air and M1 Mac Mini (16GB ram ea, latest OS). Launch time is excruciatingly slow… everything using Nordpass is so terribly slow. As much as I hoped it would compete with Bitwarden it simply can not. It really feels like it’s still in some terrible alpha version right now. And I see comments from 2 years ago about how awful it was then and, in my experience, is still awful now. Do not recommend!!
AMEN to that.
Does not work well with biometrics on PC or phone. Does not work well with passkeys.
Refuses to even load request for master password on PC, and when it does, it is all the time.
Give a hacker the password that unlocks everything–by making you continually type it. Genius.
I tried to download the OS X app to see if it was any better, can’t even get past the ‘enter your email address’ step. That made my mind up before anyone responded to this and it has been consigned to the bin, refund in the post.
Had to ditch the VPN as well because they can’t partially refund bundles. Logically I’d just sign back up for the VPN right away but now I’m salty.
about the need to have a Sign In and then use a master password. we are looking. into how we can simplify this to one step.
are you on our standalone experience? if not recommend going there for a better experience we recently launched a standalone experience so both the desktop and extension can work independent of each other. you can go to nordpass.com/download on your browser to download the standalone extention.
