Issues with Google owned apps and Brave VPN

Any app I use on my iPhone that is owned by Google (Google Maps, Google Earth, YouTube, Gmail etc) will not access the internet when I open the app. It sits there trying to load until it times out. This has been an ongoing problem for more than a year. The only thing I can do to get these apps to work is to turn off the VPN or to go in and change the VPN location every time I open one of these apps. Are there any other solutions to this issue?

I know this is an old thread but this is still an issue.

I subscribed to Brave’s VPN a few days ago and didn’t immediately put it together when all my Google related apps — including YouTube — suddenly stopped working. My Nest thermostat and cameras were all ‘offline.’

After some research this morning I turned the VPN off (directly in the Brave app, btw) and suddenly everything started working normally again.

It’s a big problem and I’m surprised Brave hasn’t addressed this yet.

This seems like a serious problem. Does it only happening with Google Apps and everything else works?

Any other suggestions or solutions to this issue from anyone?

Yes it seems to if not only, at least mainly be a problem with Google apps. I don’t seem to have this issue with Apple Maps, Instagram, FB, dating apps, etc. if/when I do have an issue connecting with other apps, it’s far far less common and seems to be a quicker easier fix. Bc sometimes even changing VPN location doesn’t fix it with Google apps. When that doesn’t work, I’ve had to completely put my phone on Airplane mode, turn off the VPN, close all apps, and wait a few minutes before reconnecting my wifi or 5G to get them working again. I don’t have to do all that as often, but seems like every couple weeks it is required to get the apps working again.
I have also tried uninstalling the brave browser app and the vpn and reinstalling and re signing in/ reconnecting the VPN with a new host IP or location or whatever (sorry I’m not super tech savvy and don’t recall the specific verbiage and steps.
These latter steps have seemed to work in the past for maybe a few days but that’s it. And it seems like the past couple times I tried it, it doesn’t work anymore for even an hour.

Most of my apps straight up don’t work since I downloaded Brave
