You should disable network monitoring.
Dude are you literally me? I also just finished my bitdefender license and decided to try Kasperky to save a little money. It has been allowing ads/pop-ups even with two blockers enabled ON TOP of it. Never checked download speed since it still seems unchanged. Something is definitely strange about it though and getting kasperky notifications that take up half my screen without an “X” to close it makes it even worse.
Malwarebytes or Windows Defender.
Kaspersky VPN cause speed issue. Disable that.
Kav has become complete trash. It’s the new Norton/McAffee I also have Gigabit internet at home and the same (random) issue with Kav happens every time I have to use it. It either lower the download speed for no reasons, or can’t seem to keep up with the download speed and use a crap load of CPU usage.
The other day I set up a machine for my little brother, my mom use Kav so I installed it on his computer to use her multi devices key, and when it came to download Fortnite on his computer, Kav put the computer on its knees, 6 cores 12 threads, and lowered the download speed to less 10MB/s from 70~100MB/s with Kav taking most of the CPU usage. I’ve never had thise kind of issue happen with Windows 10 Defender or ESET Internet Security.
The vpn is probably on by default whenever you launch ur pc, I use kaspersky aswell and their vpn is trash. I couldn’t even connect to WiFi while their vpn was on, just uninstall the their vpn application.
Straight from a 2 second Google search going all the way to the 2015 update. Everybody’s telling you VPN, and they’re essentially right.
“The reason is that all network traffic goes through the Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 filter that may affect the indicated upload or download speed”
Get rid of that junk. I’ve used defender for over 5 years solely. Not a single problem.
I didn’t realize Ferrari’s slowness also impacted their sponsors
It could be scanning all incoming and outgoing traffic? What’s your CPU usage at?
Does it also reduce the internet speed by that much on a slower network?
Setting the network as a home network in windows could help, might as well just use defender abyways.
Yea that started to happen to me last year as well. With my new PC build I dumped them for Cylance
You don’t need virus protection unless you’re downloading porn or pirated software. Why would you download software from an untrusted source anyway?
Thanks for this. It’s good (and rare) to see someone who knows how to experiment in order to find the source of the problem.
But I have to ask…why didn’t you do a 30 day free trial? That would be a “Computing 101” thing to do before paying for stuff.
Are you using it’s VPN? I would turn it off if you’re not using that feature.
Why would you use Russian KGB spyware?
“TCP Optimizer” Will fix your issue if you didn’t accidentally setup the VPN on kaspersky.
Clam av is legit no nonsense and free and a great open source project
Overwriting the malicious exe stub bytes section and repairing the application in most cases. It doesn’t delete the file like defender
Tell that to Emotet. We got hammered with it at work a couple springs ago. because it travels over the network, it kept infecting computers, and then defender might find it after the fact. We ended up doing a trial and eventually purchasing malwarebytes cloud and problem solved. It found anything and everything.
Defender has less impact than other AV, but it’s definitely still heavy. It hooks all file opens to scan the entire file, which is godawful for some workloads (like 8-10X hit awful). And god help you if you’re using a slow network drive…
IntelliJ-based IDEs come with a builtin option to disable it for your dev workspace, since it basically nukes most build and version control systems.
Not unless you’re downloading bullshit from untrusted sources.
Come on guys I’m sure you have high-speed internet, just stream your porn like the rest of us. There’s no reason to download it.
