For the past week, my Fire TV Cube has been having lots of trouble working when Express VPN is connected to any USA location.
I am located in Quebec, Canada, and have symmetric gigabit Internet service.
When Express VPN is connected to any USA location, starting Netflix results in a red circle that spins for a minute or so and then Netflix displays various network-related error messages.
If I then force stop Netflix, change my VPN location to anywhere not in the USA and then start Netflix, it works fine.
Has Express VPN changed something within the past week only in the USA that could be causing this?
Or is it perhaps Netflix that is doing something differently all of a sudden? I would think that if it was Netflix that was different that it would be uniform across all VPN locations, but this is only occurring for USA locations.
Netflix is also working okay on a separate TV that has a Firestick 4K Max, even when Express VPN is set to USA locations. However, the Express VPN app looks a bit different between the Firestick and the Fire TV Cube.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Netflix and Express VPN, restarted and power cycled numerous times, etc. No difference. I don’t have any advanced options enabled in Express VPN.
All other apps besides Netflix are working as usual when connected to any Express VPN location.
Anyone else?
The issue with VPNs is there’s only a limited number of IPs before they get blocked. When it comes to streaming content I tend to prefer a smartDNS service like streamlocator be worth checking out there 7 day free trial they offer and seeing if it’s a isolated issue with Express VPN
Same issue, so frustrating! Couldnt connect code ui-113. Firestick with Express Vpn. Netflix works on my cell with express vpn
I will look into it. Thanks for the advice.
I did try the StreamLocator app and it’s working fine right now. Netflix is able to play USA content with no issues.
I went to the StreamLocator site to try to buy their hub but it’s out of stock in North America, so I’ll have to wait for it to come back into stock. I have an Apple TV I want to use with it.
Thanks again for the tip.
The problem started with my Firestick today too.
Netflix still works on my phone with all USA locations.
Yesterday it was also working on my laptop connected to the US but today it is also doing the red circle thing. So frustrating.
I tried the StreamLocator app that another commenter suggested and it’s working great so far. I tried going to their site to order their hub but it’s out of stock in North America right now. Hopefully it’ll come back in stock soon.
No problem. They do have a smartDNS feature that you can use without needing the hub for Apple you can check it out at account.streamlocator.com
I’ll check that out too. Thanks.
