Network-Level VPN

Hey all- just looking to see if there is a solution for this I’m not finding or if there has been any news of this in the pipe.

Do any eero devices support connecting to a VPN server from within the router itself, so that all devices connected to that router are being routed via the VPN server the router is connected to?

Sure, eero plus covers device specific VPNs very clunkily requiring each individual device to connect on its own via the eero or Guardian app. But even my new eero Max 7, a very expensive router, doesn’t seem to have a feature that even basic, cheap routers have: the ability within the router software to connect it to a VPN server (of my choosing, via OpenVPN for example but not exclusively) so that the whole network is protected.

Am I missing something? Has there been any prior discussion on this topic as to whether it may or may not ever come to eero devices?

I know their ISP partners would probably despise this from a track-your-customer standpoint, but for typical consumer use this is a basic feature that’s been on most routers for years.

Cheers!

Nope, not an option. Their primary market is for customers who want to set something up simple and not touch it. That’s beyond that scope.

Unfortunately, no this functionality isn’t part of Eero. It was brought up multiple times in their online community (before they shut it down earlier this year), with quite a bit of support from other users, but they never put it on their roadmap.

Yet another feature eero’s competitors are doing and eero is falling behind on.

You have to have eero plus $99.99 year

The DNSFilter Guardian VPN service that is bundled with eero Plus doesn’t enable clientless/router-driven VPN tunneling for specific devices.
