New York Presbyterian's reaction to non-essential staff concerns

New York Presbyterian’s reaction to non-essential staff concerns.

Medical Coder here for NYC H+H. They’ve made us submit our info for the possibility to work from home but we have no word on it. Only that they’re “working on it” for the past 2 1/2 weeks. Meanwhile they have outside coders coding from different states and countries at home. Instead we get an email every day directly from HHC saying that every staff member is essential. We’ll be at it throughout the pandemic for no reason

Ok, what type of employee is non-essential in this context? Admin?

Thank you to our healthcare workers

Many hospitals are taking advantage of their status to prevent any employees from working from home.

I posted over the weekend about working conditions for nurses at NYP and was savagely downvoted, told I was a troll by some Canadian guy and had to fight to get my post reinstated.

This is bitter vindication.

what’s the context here? Are NYP employees being reprimanded for voicing their legit concerns? Interesting about that veiled threat about “continuing to work for NYP”

Why not just send this to the news

If you’re not a nurse, why the fuck are you reporting to work at a hospital. If you’re an accountant, who literally cannot help nurses hands on, why are you risking you and your families lives.

Fuck NY Presbyterian. If you can work from home, you should work from home. How does sending people who cannot assist nurses/doctors in anyway into a hospital, surrounded by potential COvid cases help anyone.

Hazard pay for everyone who’s essential, now. It’s the only way out of the problem.

The risk premium of being a janitor at a hospital just went through the roof, even though the unemployment rate is so high that you could probably fill the role eventually. But everyone is skilled at their job. We can’t have everyone quit and have to hire and train their replacements. It’s not possible in the health care system or anywhere else. It can’t be done and it doesn’t have to be done.

At the same time, people should be compensated for their risk, and the only way to do it semi-fairly at a beginning level is to have government pay those people more to keep them on the job.

I didn’t really like Dr Forese before, but goddamn that’s some cold ass mob shit right there.

Tweet this to cuomo and or the press. This is terrible. What kind of a person needs her ego to be so big that she goes against medical suggestions to prevent ppl from dying.

I work for NYCHH in enterprise helpdesk office and we started working from home this week due to the higher ups wanting less people aside from the truly essential folks in the hospital.

Not sure why NYP isnt playing ball when their colleagues are

My sister works for this hospital. She is non-essential staff and she’s there everyday. I call her everyday after work.

“Dispiriting.” Bottle blonde rich lady thinks she’s immune.

Edited to add: she also needs to consult a sociologist or anthropologist to clue her in to what “disrespect” means in many American communities, particularly “minority” communities. Using that word was an attempt to reach out and communicate something important. It means, “You’re not taking our worries and needs into consideration.”

I put together some contact information for a colleague and though it might be useful. I’d also find your county executive/borough president’s contact information. Feel free to add on if I’ve missed anything.

Can someone tell me the name of this hospital and what the position is of this person? Would like to get more press on this but getting pushback without the details.

Is she on a commode?

People like this should never be in power. Help the hospital staff by signing this petition to have her removed from the hospital. Sign Here

Same. I work for a system in another city on the east cost and we (admin) are not allowed to work remotely. Even though 100% of our work can be done at home. We heard that there are two reasons why our system won’t shut the corporate building: (1) “it’s just the flu” coming from executives, and (2) the Branding Marketing dept don’t like the idea of a building with our logo all over it being closed during the pandemic.

Meanwhile, employees are coughing at work…
