No Internet after switching networks on iOS

I noticed that after switching from WiFi to mobile data there is no internet on my iPhone. The same is happening when switching from mobile data to WiFi.
The Proton VPN connection was stable but to recover the internet access I have to manually reconnect vpn, which is quite annoying.
I played with different settings and protocols which didn’t resolve the issue so far.
In some cases I just want to stop using Proton VPN.
Does anybody else have the same problem?

Hi! Can you please send us a report through the ‘Report an issue’ option in the Proton VPN app menu, and attach the error logs, so our technical support team can investigate further and assist you accordingly? Thanks in advance.

I’ve found this too, I takes 2 mins or so for it to figure itself out again or I have to go turn the VPN off and then on again.

As the account below has suggested, I have sent them logs to investigate.

To prevent this from happening, you have to switch the pertinent settings off and/or on in the proper order (without ever directly disabling cellular data; except temporarily via airplane mode). I do it with shortcuts.

It looks like the issue is solved by itself :upside_down_face:
I haven’t noticed internet interruption after going outside the WiFi network and back.
That’s weird, but I’m glad that I don’t need to regularly check the internet and vpn status anymore.
Probably it is in fact an iPhone issue…

Mine takes longer than few minutes. I noticed that when not seeing any push notifications for hours after switching. And only after manual reconnecting vpn I get all missing notifications…

I kind of think its an iOS issue. I had the same issue with NordVPN which casued me to just stop using a VPN in general for a while, it also caused AppleCarPlay issues.

Mulvad seemed to be pertty solid for me, but I can’t recall if I had the same issues, but I was mainly using that at the time due to travelling so was not on much Mobile Data.

Correct, been an iPhone issue for a couple years now.

you are correct; its ANOTHER one of the Iphone issues that annoy the hell out of people
