NordVPN promises 18 months free upon renewal, declines the card without giving reason, charges me for the full plan when using the exact same card, and then refuses the additional 18 months.
Stop using Nord, get Mulvad
Don’t use NordVPN. They are known for these bullshit scams. Also if you cancel auto-renewal most people say that they tend to remove some of the things from vpn. Just crap support. Also they bill you even before the month ends and sometimes you don’t even get a notification.
George is straight ti the point at least. Doesn’t brat around the bush and just tells you what he knows. Good support guy
I have a deep issue woth VPN services
The guy looks like he barely cares. Don’t use their services anymore.
How is this asshole design though?
or use bitdefender permier security pack
Just host your own VPN on one of the free tier accounts on one of many IAAS providers. My recommendation would be oracle cloud as the free tier is free forever - I’m doing that.
Remember a VPN, from any provider is just your traffic routing through someone else’s computer, probably a server in an azure or AWS data centre… So it’s exactly the same as hosting one yourself, apart from you own the server.
The “free 18months” could just mean the equivalent amount of $ saved. They charge $15/m which would be $170 more than you were charged for the 18 months.
After what happened, I just might.
Yeah, I’ve begun to notice their ‘special offers’ are never as clear-cut as they appear, and there’s always hoops and headaches you have to jump through just to make them keep their word.
When they first started, they were actually pretty great and I experienced no issues, but it seems they’ve become a little too relaxed in the customer service aspect.
Hey there,
A representative from NordVPN reached out and apologized for the situation, and offered to fulfill the 18 month offer.
I’m thankful someone was able to finally help me out, although it feels like I had to put the company on blast through a social media post before NordVPN decided the negative PR wasn’t worth it and agreed to follow through with the offer.
Regardless, I appreciate the gesture as it had immediate results.
Nord should work more closely with their support team to improve the empathy needed when assisting customers, along with better training or resources to actually provide a solution for the customer.
When an associate tells me that they have no idea why my card declined while revoking the promotion offer and deflecting my questions, it seems almost like customers may be taken advantage of by dangling a false carrot on a string.
Nevertheless, I appreciate you relaying my issue which caused someone to finally reach out and help.
Why do you need curtains?
Why do you need solid opaque walls?
Why do you need to lock your front door?
Or because the promise of streaming services was broken, the deal was made, people got in, then had the value sucked out of it, with VPNs being the only way to get what the deal was for back.
Or because you live in a place where the government regularly commits atrocities and tries to turn the populations camera off by removing internet access and sometimes VPNs still work.
Or because despite the internet being a global network, some random suits decided to split it up into big border-based cuts of areas, with different content available only in those special areas.
Or because…
Understandable, I hope you get into a better place without having to do all that someday.
