Optimizing download speed with qBittorent and my budget VPN

Hi. My ISP’s broadband package is a consistent 72 Mbps downstream and I just started using my first paid VPN after a string of free & trial solutions. It’s FastVPN and the price I paid was ridiculously low so I’m not expecting premium performance. However, it does seem adequate and I sometimes get nearly my full download speed with certain euro servers. But how do I optimize qBittorent to use with a VPN? Torrent download speeds seem a little on the low side (averaging about 1/4 of what I’m capable of). Using default qBittorent settings but are there special settings that work best for budget VPNs? Thanks for any help.

Main thing is going to be are you poret forwarded?

A lot of VPNs, either don’t support port forwarding or only do it on soms servers. Even then the port that you get given is quasi-random and changes at each new connection. So you have to see what port you’ve been given and then update the listening port in Qbit.

How much did it cost you? And was it per month or per 1/2/a full year? Or even more time?

@ Tony49UK - Yeah, I haven’t messed with port forwarding on my Arris SurfBoard SBG6700-AC cable modem/router yet and I don’t know what the specs are for my VPN. I should look into that more.

@ TheTrueIndiz - Special lifetime deal/discount. $12 (USD). Told ya it was ridiculous (no, I am not a shill… lol). They seem adequate so far but I’ve only been signed up for 3 days. Can’t beat the price though.
