It’s the other way around. I prefer using IKEv2 and Nord removed IKEv2 support from their software and servers. That’s why I switched to Proton.
I tried using NordLynx on my iOS devices and the Nord app racked up an insane amount of background activity and subsequent battery use. That was not the case with IKEv2.
ProtonVPN also removed IKEv2. Windscribe has it. I didn’t sign up yet for any but I’m debating between those 2 and Windscribe has way more features but ProtonVPN has way more servers.
Thanks for your reply. 4 months isn’t old at all, though I understand updates can improve/ruin software and hardware. I am trying your free version on Windows and Android, lots of features, compact UI. One small bug on Android though.
I did discover an issue with the Canada VPN though. I wanted to redeem some Microsoft reward points and since I’m travelling and I am not in Canada at the moment, it said something about an error and to contact support. But with FreeVPN on Android I was able to do it. Tried again with yours, it gives an error. Both on desktop and Android. Incognito mode.
Oh absolutely but it’s prior to our Circumvent Censorship mode and that has made a world of difference for connectivity. We provide complimentary access for example to the mods of /r/paelstine and /r/newiran as we’re the only ones with a counter to traffic correlation attacks for example.
I was reading yesterday a comment by someone here about how he’s unable to access a certain app or website anymore because of the removal of IKEv2. We shouldn’t have to use a third party application for that. I wouldn’t want to run into that.
ProtonVPN (I’m testing the free version) already lacks features and removing some isn’t to your benefit. Because of the lack of features, I’m forced to go with another. I would suggest never removing features unless it’s an upgrade or a huge security hole that can’t be patched.
Thanks. I understand, but I use Windows and Android. I would argue that it should be up to the user to decide if he wants to use it. It should remain in the app, and perhaps add a warning below it (help text) and don’t make it use the auto/smart function.
