ProtonVPN extensions constantly disconnecting
Hi! We’re aware of the problem and our developers are working on a fix for an upcoming update of the browser extension. From other user reports we’ve received, we can tell you that if you dismiss the modal, you should still be able to continue browsing as normal, i.e. you don’t have to actually enter any credentials there to resume browsing, although the pop-up modal may persist several times after dismissing it.

At first sight it seems that the ProtonVPN extension relies on the Protonmail website for auth. Considering the Protonmail session is kept for like 5 seconds, this makes a VPN extension super problematic.
While clicking on the VPN extension shows I’m still connected and logged in. The prompt only disappears after I log into protonmail again.
It was doing this same thing to me and I posted it on another subreddit where Proton acknowledged that it was a known issue. I stopped using it and removed the extension as it was a hassle to keep logging in.
Dismissing the modal didn’t allow me to browse normally.
Only relogging back into ProtonMail did. Maybe other users just dismissed it sitting there for 1 minute+? It’s way faster to just log in at that point.
Are you using the generated openvpn username and password? In that pw field?
do you know what credentials do they use ?
using my proton credentials didn’t work with the popup
proton is probably using some other credentials
From what I remember it was the Proton username and password used for the account log in.

they work in the extension but not the popup
