My focus here is on affordability. I know a lot of these VPN’s are really cheap to begin with, but I’m looking for the cheapest VPN that is actually viable and doesn’t get blocked/caught by sites. If they’re lesser known that’s okay (perhaps even preferable) since many of the bigger ones like Nord, which is cheap in its own right - get caught immediately and i have to constantly prove i’m not a robot. That, or I get completely blocked out of a site. For example, when using certain VPN’s I haven’t been able to access chat gpt. This has happened on more than one occasion and it is very frustrating. Any suggestions?
Dude, Surfshark costs like $2 per month and it is a stellar VPN. It’s basically free, what more do you want? Even the “expensive” VPN’s don’t exceed more than like $5-$7 per month. Don’t know why anyone would make a big deal out of pricing for VPN’s.
generally speaking, in life you get what you pay for. So if you’re going to cheap out and look for the least expensive VPN service in existence, what kind of VPN do you think that is going to be? Do you think your privacy will be protected? Free VPN’s have been discussed here and basically everyone agreed that you’re better off running raw (without any VPN at all) rather than using a free one. They’ll just give you a shitty server that’s been spammed to death and on top of that, they’ll probably also harvest/sell your data. It’s just a no-go all around.
I know these ones are extremely cheap: Nord, Express, Surfshark, PIA. Another really cheap one is Pure VPN, but I have heard conflicting things about that one in particular. At the end of the day I don’t think VPN’s are expensive enough to make make a big deal out of it. Just go with the one that’s best overall regardless of price.
You can get locked out of ChatGPT even if you’re using the most expensive VPN in the world. It happens, you’re spoofing your IP address using a server than probably 10,000 other people also used on the same day as you. Get over it, just switch servers and connect. To answer the question, any of the commonly mentioned vpn services are going to be cheap.
use Pure VPN. It’s dirt cheap. Sometimes takes ages to load webpages but if cheap is what you’re looking for then that’s the one for you.
I can second what others are saying, I’ve always felt like VPN’s are extremely cheap. Never really gave too much thought to whether it was $2 or $4; what’s most important to me is that it doesn’t lag too much and actually allows me to access websites.
Is that what your experience with Nord was? Damn I knew it was a shitty VPN but I thought you’d at least be able to browse relatively easily and without issues. Guess not.
Best Cheap VPN?
This is a silly question to me. I’ve yet to come across a VPN that ISN’T cheap. They’re all in the ballpark of a few bucks per month. Hell, if you get a longterm deal with some of them, they can even get as inexpensive as $1 per month. If you’re looking for something even cheaper than that, I’m not sure you’ll find it.
I know people talk about VPN’s a lot in this sub, I personally view it as more important to find a high quality VPN that isn’t A) abused and B) going to protect your privacy. The one that fits the bill is Mullvad. Starting at only $5 per month and no obligation to pay long term, it’s a no-brainer in my opinion.
Cheap VPN’s to avoid:
- PIA
- ProtonVPN
- Cyberghost
- Express
These ones I just listed out have been known to get blocked by a lot of the major streaming sites, so if that is an important element to you, be careful using them.
I’ve been with PureVPN for almost two years now. Zero complaints from me, they are cheap as hell and few people use it which means more bandwidth for me.
Mullvad is great for privacy maximalists. You can even pay with monero, but it isn’t the cheapest overall option. Something like bitdefender is dirt cheap starting at $2.50 per month. Surfshark is even cheaper (and better tbh). UltraVPN is the cheapest i’ve found at 2 bucks per month but I have no experience with it and haven’t heard it get mentioned too much so I’d probably be wary of going with that one.
personally, i wouldn’t recommend you go TOO cheap on a VPN… I’ve made that mistake before and what ended up happening was that the VPN was extremely slow to use and limited in terms of server and geo diversity. Basically i wasted money on the cheap vpn cause i just ended up getting a better and more expensive one shortly after
would’ve been helpful if you actually laid out your budget so we could better help you. What’s cheap to me may not be cheap to you, and vice versa. That said, Surfshark, PureVPN, express, NordVPN are some really popular VPN’s that are widely considered affordable amongst the community. You aren’t going to be finding many VPN’s cheaper than that. Good luck.
Its good that you’re doing your research and are focused on affordability, just make sure not to focus only on this aspect. If you are hellbent on getting the cheapest VPN possible, you might end up getting a pretty shitty VPN that is going to be leaking your browsing data and will be painfully slow to use. Anything in the $3-$7 range should be good and “cheap” enough
Windscribe 1 month = 3 dollars.
13.99 a month you mean, endless you subscribe to a package for 6months or more fro 50$+ just go with windscribe 3 dollars easy
I feel like most vpn services offer the same thing more or less, no? And if that is really the case, I might as well opt for the cheapest one of the bunch.
What? This makes no sense to me. I’m paying money to protect my privacy and access the web through a server… I should be able to connect to sites without any hiccups.
thanks for the suggestion
