For the shrine shop to change, the right region ip needs to be active before getting to main menu, loading a character doesn’t change it.
Right region ip also needs to be active while making a purchase, any currency exchange checks for the ip again.
For the online only loot “drop” to change, the vpn can be turned on any time, as long it’s active while the loot is given to your account, also the currency is account wide, not just a “drop” for the character.
In Australia (vpn) vs Most of the World: (haven’t bothered testing other regions with vpn)
Plucked Eyeballs 150x, in most of the world 3x.
Pilfered Coins 300x, in most of the world 15x. (I did one co-op session only ever, and that’s the coin amount I have)
Severed Hands 150x, in most of the world 9 or with charred finger 27.

Apparently Australia hand amount does not change with the charred finger at least from what I seen. To be fair though 150 is plenty, with the entire shop being bought out in 12 invasions since their shop costs less than worldwide.
When i change my VPN, it says “product tampered with” and doesn’t let me log in to multiplayer

I read this part. "You have to use it before killing host, and after he moved to umbral, using it before umbral state seems to not give additional severed hands [9 → 27] " Is that part true? That it only works when host is in umbral state, and if the 150 is still what you get?
There is maybe a chance they pushed an update out for a different region.Albeit ironically I once didn’t let the game update, I was able to go online with an outdated game version.
You can try this, turn on vpn connection when you’ve already in the game and multiplayer enabled, not before.If you want the cheap store with some missing materials, you can turn on vpn before starting the game, then turn the vpn off, connect to multiplayer, and then turn vpn back on.
I’m using Urban VPN desktop app, you can’t get it from the homepage, it will force feed you with fake links instead to chrome extension.
