Running a USG-3P Gateway router and Cloudkey+ ; VPN options?

We all use android, which dropped L2TP and PPTP support two versions ago, so we lost our VPN access (home network).

However, I recently saw that Wireguard was added to the Network controller, and I want to set that up. But apparently this is not possibly with my USG? I have to upgrade to the $500 controller?!

Is there another option out there? I have been pretty happy with my system for years, except for the lack of VPN.

You don’t need to spend $500. The $129 UXG-Lite is a drop-in replacement for your USG and supports Wireguard, albeit not particularly fast (about 50 Mbps up/down). Or you could get the UCG-Ultra, which just came out and replaces both the USG and the Cloud Key and has better VPN performance.

Is your Cloud Key Gen 1 (white, no screen) or Gen 2 (silver, screen)?

Gen2, Silver with the screen.

Heh, I would have bought the Ultra instead of the new Cloud Key. I am actually gonna call and see if they will allow me to return it, literally purchased two weeks ago (If the ultra was out I didn’t see it). The ultra is out of stock, but I am not in a special hurry. I can keep on limping.

Cool—I asked because I don’t think the G1 Cloud Key can manage the UXG. But the silver one can so you’re fine if you decide to go that way. Good luck with the return!
