Well, few days ago my smart tv showed that dreaded message asking to disable my vpn / unblocker.
Today, my laptop and ipad did the same… so no more US catalog for me.
Seriously considering cancelling my account and get other service.
Want to ask couple questions then:
- What country do you live on?
- What catalog were you trying to access?
- Which vpn / unblocker service were you using?
- Found any workarounds?
Thanks!
I’m in Canada using PIA. I use it for all around security and privacy as well as accessing US Netflix. It’s been blocked now by Netflix.
I tried switching to to a Canadian IP address using my VPN but Netflix blocks me eventhough I’m in Canada. So Netflix is not only geo blocking people, they are just blocking all VPN’s period. I have a serious problem with this since Netflix is now putting my online security at risk.
I will watch the new season of House of Cards via an incognito window on my browser and then cancel my Netflix subscription. And I definitely won’t be subscribing to the other two garbage Canadian streaming services Shomi or CraveTV.
Does the entertainment industry want piracy, because this is how you get piracy.
I am testing out www.borderlessinternet.com at the moment
Was unblock-us customer until today
Borderless is slower, but seems to be working on my machines at the moment. Not on my smart tv or PS4 however
It’s strange. Netflix caused a huge dip in piracy… its about to jump right back up
slow clap
Do you think VPN providers will work in lifting the bans? Or they will just oblige?
Edit: HMA! VPN is dead as well
I’ve been using unblock-US out of Australia to get into the US catalog.
I’ve seen that ‘you’re cheating’ message 2 or 3 times now, but unblock-US seems to be working around it pretty efficiently. I don’t have the first clue how all this works, but I haven’t had to change my DNS settings or anything - one minute we’re blocked, the next our access is back. All I have to do is close Netflix when the error pops up and re-open it. So far so good!

unblock-us. Just tried to access the US cataloge from Switzerland and it was blocked. Already canceled my account and downloaded the season of the show I want to watch.
EDIT: Found one that works. PM me for details. It’s a paid service, but it has a brief trial period that’s free, and you can pay with PayPal, which is nice. Obviously I’m not going to just post it on here, because you can bet your ass that the fuckers over at Netflix HQ are checking this thread to see which VPNs they need to block now. In which case, if you’re reading this, Netflix IT guy: fuck you.
I’m in Italy and I’m having little luck. SmartDNS and Hola failed. Hola didn’t even pretend to work. SmartDNS gave me an error message. I tried to get SaferVPN and VPN.Guru to work, but I abandoned the search when I found an easier one that did work.
I’d like to give a super-special “fuck you” to Sky TV Italia, who monopolized House of Cards-- a NETFLIX ORIGINAL SHOW-- which means it won’t be released on Netflix until six months after it shows on Sky TV… by which time, I will already be back in America.
Smartdnsproxy (14 days free trial) works still, at least the US East 1/2 ones. Most of the rest seems to be blocked
VPNGate with the public list also works but unfortunately almost all of them are pretty slow
In Australia using unblockus to get U.S Netflix. Was blocked last night
I’m in the US. I have accessed content in other countries, but today am just trying to access US content (House of Cards). I use private internet access (PIA) and was connected to a US IP, but still got blocked. I haven’t tried a workaround yet, but I’ve been seeing other people saying some VPNs will work through the Netflix ban. I’m going to wait a while to see what happens because I don’t trust most of the comments saying one service works or not since they are very likely to be the other VPN services trying to suck in more customers. In the mean time, I logged in my complaint with PIA since it’s really their problem. If other VPNs can figure it out, they should be able to too.
Lol, fuckers are even blocking my co-located server over at leaseweb.nl in the Netherlands.
https://tvunblock.com was working fine till today. Now they released a statement where they claim to become invite only :s now im fucked
Smartydns is also blocked for US and DE sites. It’s a good thing I was still within the 30 day money back period and got the refund. I feel sorry for the guys who signed up for a year.
My vpn stopped working on the us server but still works on canada server. I don’t really want to give the name out yet though, netflix would be pleased to block it and I have to finish house of cards
So Netflix is not only geo blocking people, they are just blocking all VPN’s period. I have a serious problem with this since Netflix is now putting my online security at risk.
This is something that I have noticed too that I have not seen very many people mention. I’m in AU and if I point my TunnelBear to AU and try to use my Netflix AU account I get the dreaded “You’re using a VPN!” message. When I turn off TunnelBear I can use Netflix AU.
Not cool man. My bears need to be let loose, not cooped up.
on the netflix/proxy link says “we can’t confirm you are using vpn for legitimate reasons, so you must turn it off to use our service” or something like that… so will end up cancelling netflix too
I’m an unblock-us customer, and my service was blocked on Wednesday evening. I emailed unblock-us and they replied 3 minutes later with a new dns setting. Back in business.
