awesome , there is a lot of word play with Zai (再 or 在) no doubt
Max now is more like an online community. When there is no league, people there talk more about life trivia than dota. you can go nga/dota2 to read more chinese dota meme.
I think you misunderstand me. I’m American now but originally born in China. I love both cultures and hate politics. We need to connect as people, as human beings, by seeing eye to eye and realizing we’re not so different, that we’re all shit memers. I don’t think Chinese culture is “superior” but it is damn good, and deserves to be known.
I hate when someone first seeing me, recognize I’m Chinese, and start making all sorts of stupid, wrong assumptions. In fact this isn’t just about Chinese, it’s all Asians, when someone sees an Asian person, they’ll guess they’re Chinese. So many Asian brothers took a bullet for Chinese when corona was out and about, racists can’t tell the difference, they all get beaten up.
So practically speaking, how Chinese people / culture are perceived in U.S. (or wherever you live) will have a drastic impact on my own quality of life, and I want to ensure Chinese people/cutulre are perceived favourably.
你可以翻墙,也可以出国。但是你翻不出去你长得这张脸
Nice, I saw you just updated the post, which was one of the main issues why I suggested a new post ( we have no idea when a post is updated unless we randomly click into it again), and I probably wouldn’t have if not for the fact i read this comment. Cheers
Oh I didnt know their names were on liquipedia. Ty
dude is probably a better translation than bro. So many dota hero name in Chinese is something something 哥 it would be weird if they were all bro. Its more like guy or dude.
Iceiceice is called 三冰(3 ice)usually, but he has a funny nickname called "虾哥” (shrimp bro).
The nickname is because iceiceice often choked in big tournaments, hence chinese ppl call him 大赛软脚虾 (literal meaning is ‘soft feet shrimp in major tournament’, but it means this person got cold feet during major tournament)
Ah that’s unfortunate man.
Basically Ame (Phantom assassin) were complaining about Shadow Demon using disruption wrongly.
Direct translate would be.
Ame: SD can u use your skill properly. ffs why are u using it on rubick?
Ame: Just use your skill on bloodseeker or spirit breaker. understand?
The second sentence is really funny cause it’s like an adult giving advice to a child, using simple word in chinese and ends it with “understand?”. Except that everything is still in chinese but he just go along with it anyway.
Ame is playing PA who dies to rubick in the teamfight. he’s mad at shadow demon and pinging all his spells on cooldown, so i’m guessing he’s made because shadow demon used them in the wrong part of the fight (he was in the top part of triangle instead of at the back with PA)
老干妈
I read it up, power la that granny.
I know lao gan ma from john cena lol
Oooo ok ok, I read up and apparently aMa is the original. (ama as in grandma)
Yup, it’s that stuff… this whole time I thought it was something like hot sauce or chili-ketchup… When he mentioned Laoganma the light bulb finally turned on haha
Thanks for clarifying! This makes sense!
(In case anyone’s interested he’s just saying something like “Yeah yeah, friend, is it good? Is it good or how’s it going in China?”, random filler words basically)
He probably got the message in either case =D
Maybe SD was someone he knows is chinese (some pro’s smurf or something).
Yeah that’s him raging? Lol calm as a potato
