This VPN is a malware?

I have a habit of manually checking every app through Virus total before installing.

Namecheap’s Fastvpn shows detection.

Upon checking the app in virustotal got this: https://imgur.com/a/NxnPDvY

Virus total link: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/46746aca3805982e8b7ace71e9505f6f46fc77e1ff3efce20d7844f216b6ac9c

It could be real false positive or actual malware hiding behind being false positive, who knows.

Majority of the staff is based in Ukraine so I am not sure of installing this.

What you think?

Okay I don’t know if it’s malware or not but why not use something like Mullvad or nord instead ? I haven’t heard of fast vpn before and I have been looking into vpns quite a bit recently.

It’s only 1 flag out of 62 tests, so I’d say it’s a false-positive. Says more about that single anti-virus company than it does for the VPN app.

Maybe (just maybe) there’s some code or function makes Anti Virus APP felt the VPN APP is harmful.

No, it’s not malware, if you notice only one of those antivirus products flagged as malware, it’s definitely a false positive for that one detection. I use it, and don’t have any problems at all.

My guess is that it’s a false positive - if you downloaded it from their official website.

Namecheap is a pretty known hosting provider. I’m not sure if I would go there for my vpn. I’d rather select a provider that has vpn as it’s core competency.

If you’re just want to watch videos that are not in your country. Just setup a vpn gateway in virtual machine. It doesn’t matter it’s malware or not. Also if you want torrenting just stay away with it. It has a lot vulnerability.

Go with proton from my own experience

Would advise to avoid nord they had a breech ages ago didn’t alert their users as soon as they found out

Because fast vpn is a bit cheap in price compared to those.

NordVPN? More like Nerd VPN!

Yeah that’s true it was back in 2019 I believe but they should of let the users know right away. I suggest Mullvad over anything, lots of people have been praising nord recently as well as surfshark but at the end of the day people gotta do the there own research.

Mullvad is 5 bucks a month. You gotta use a trustworthy vpn bro I don’t know if fast is or isn’t but again I’ve never heard of it. It may be cheaper but ask yourself why it’s cheaper and if they could possibly be selling your data.

If cheap is what you are looking for. I subscribed to a lifetime VPN from this site and quite happy.

If it’s a scam the price is irrelevant

I’ve got a feeling those who praise those 2 vpns are just shilling it many use affiliate links

Apart from mullvad as they don’t do that

Who is praising nord? Youtube ads don’t count. When you look into the nordvpn sub reddit you see that they have shady practices and often it doesn’t work properly.

I think both have been externally audited, I may be wrong but I’m pretty sure. No reason to use anything but Mullvad atm until the dvpns pop off.
