Nope! Same carrier. I even tried logging in on my computer which still showed me as being geo locked. My only guess is that my account data is stored in the US or something.

Really?! I’ve never even heard of this ban. But it’s available for a lot of Canadians. I’ve sent an email to tiktok so hopefully they’ll be able to explain. If it’s really banned in Canada they’ll tell me

They’re using abitrary ways to try to distinguish Americans from Candians btw. There were more successful logins with Gmail than Facebook. I have an At Gmx.de email if I really lose service on the North American side. It’s funny trying to see them seperate Americans from Candians and getting confused I’d always thought they’d use an IP prefix but instead they used peering networks, asn blocks, Supercookies and User Data Tastes.

Tiktok is not banned to citizens so it is not really banned in Canada. “end to tiktok’s Canadian operations” means shutting down the specific Canadian office set up for Tiktok. It is and has been banned from government workers phones for a long time though.
