Verizon 5G home blocks website

Hi, I am wondering if anyone experiences Verizon 5G home blocks certain websites?

I have my Verizon 5G home in IP-Passthrough mode, and I can not access https://www.bpelsg.ca.gov/ website. However, I have no issue to access this website via my Company laptop( company uses Global Protect VPN). In addition, I can also access the website on my phone ( Verizon phone) without connecting to the home wifi network. Thus, I believe the Verizon 5G home may block the website and am wondering if there is a fix for this?

It’s an issue with the firmware, most likely. Newest version was reported to have it fixed, but more recently was halted and rolled back for unexplained reasons. There are workarounds.

FYI, I just checked the website on my VZW home internet and it loads, no problem.
Which gateway do you have?

It’s 100% because of IP pass through, also running it in double nat has its issues too beyond latency, the updated version of that router doesn’t have the same issue BUT there are lots of people saying that their speeds dropped when they got the replacement because they basically started a new contract.
I actually have both routers, currently using the one you have in IP pass to my dream machine pro feeding the house and 3 out buildings with 5 mesh AP’s and 4 meshed amplifi routers. Hilariously I can’t access any verizon websites reliably or load twitter content, everything else seems to work fine.
I can confirm that they make you start a new no contract account when replacing that router, doesn’t matter which one you get. They wont just “swap it out” so it’s plausible that any new accounts get throttled like folks have reported.
So literally I am paying TWO 5g bills right now because I have not set up the arc-xci55ax yet, I have external antennas I am going to add and haven’t had the time yet to do it. The ask—ncq1338 looks identical but will not support external antennas and also has the ip-pass issues.
I’ve read issues about the manual “fix” not working for others, also who knows when and how the firmware rolls out and updates, LIKE LITERALLY WHO KNOWS!?!? You can’t force it and like others have mentioned they rolled it back. Officially Verizon said they are no longer going to support that router, In fact to try and even replace it with the same model is almost impossible to get Verizon to do.
All that being said, the cool thing about the
ask-ncq1338 is that it does have a physical sim, all the rest are virtual. So you can take it apart and pull the sim, install it in your own 5G router, change the APN to “v5ga01internet” and keep your original contract and never worry about this or any other Verizon firmware issues again.

Hello,

I was having the same issue…

Please read my post here…

I have experienced this a few times, but didn’t bother to do an extensive amount of troubleshooting. I would randomly get walmart.com and homedepot.com not working on Verizon Home 5G. If I used my work computer or my cell signal, all would be well. A few days later, I could get to those sites.

Edit: Home 5G

I’ve never had this issue, and I can access that site you posted no problem

Yes been going on for ~1 year now

I’d bet that it’s because there’s a different DNS server in use through your home 5G. If you have a PC manually set your DNS on your computer to 8.8.8.8 (google), execute “ipconfig /flushdns” at the command line, then try and access the site. I’m on 5G Home and I had no trouble accessing it. If you have a Mac you’d need to do the equivalent. It could also be that you just have a bad cached translation sitting around on your computer as they cache IP lookups and in that case, the “ipconfig /flushdns” should take care of it.

When I was using Starlink I had trouble with a couple of sites only when accessed through Starlink. i fixed the problem by having the router use a different DNS server. The Starlink router defaulted to Cloudfare which was the problem.

Those websites needa static IP and permission to use them. You have to pay your isp for a static. That site is whitelist IPs. An ip has to be on the list to access the site

The fix is to use a VPN. Get a VPN that has a web browser extension, just turn it on when you’re going to a Verizon blocked site. These are the sites that I’ve found that Verizon 5G Home Internet will block.

NOT on the cube as it will NOT allow a change to dns, but put a Manual DNS on the device your trying to get to the site from, use Google (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1 & 1.0.0.1 ) DNS and it should make it work. Something about the DHCP from VZW to the cube/passthrough isn’t correct. I think they still treat it too much like a Mobile phone & not enough like a fixed Access point it is.

I have the same passthrough issue with one of my computers (the other computers work fine with the Verizon 5G home network), being unable to access some sites, including the sites I have to use for work. I solved the issue by pairing a repeater router with the gateway and then connect the router to my computer with an ethernet cable.

No more :orange_square::black_large_square: for you :joy:

yea, the new Firmware was rolled back for no reason.

I have this gateway in passthrough mode. I can access that site. For note comparison’s sake I have IPv6 completely disabled on the ASK. My router is set for MTU=1428, and I’m using Cloudflare DNS.

I have the ASK-NCQ1338FA

In fact to try and even replace it with the same model is almost impossible to get Verizon to do. All that being said, the cool thing about the ask-ncq1338 is that it does have a physical sim, all the rest are virtual. So you can take it apart and pull the sim, install it in your own 5G router, change the APN to “v5ga01internet” and keep your original contract and never worry about this or any other Verizon firmware issues again.

if Verizon replace a different modem to me, it means I will loose the “Free Swith and $200 giftcard” promotion?

interesting to know, i will check a few days later to see if this would work again.

I have firewalla firewall router behind the Verizon modem. I just tried “emergency Access” mode ( suspends all rules such as firewall, DNS server).

Based on my WAN connection information, my modem has Primary DNS server 198.224.173.135 and Secondary DNS server 198.224.174.135, I am wondering if I could change this ?
