I have an Nvidia Shield Pro (2019) that I would like to connect, via VPN, to my work network, to view content that is hosted there.
All the VPN apps that I see are monthly subscription and allow you to connect to different locations in the world, depending on your requirements. I just want to connect to my workplace, on a static IP and be done with it.
Can I do this with an app on the Play Store?
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Tailscale. No need to manually punch holes in your firewall. Let tailscale do the work and be done with it. Actual setup time is as fast as you can make an account and install the clients.
Do your work allow you to connect from any device? Usually there is policies in place that should prevent this. And this us how ransomware/malware moves on networks. From personal devices, then moves on.
But maybe you have a reason, video editing and so on.
I manage the VPN, I can configure PPTP, IPSEC, OpenVPN, L2TP…… I just need a client that I can configure with the details.
All I want is just a more flexible VPN client than the ones that come preconfigured on the Play Store. One where I choose the IP of my connection point.
Personally i would never mix home “personal” and company. But each their own. But i work as sysadm so i know by experience that this is usually a bad idea. Even big companies like lastpass breach was from compromised personal/home device.
But i can see your point, if the Company is small, but what i fail to see is what on a company network, you could have access to that you can not get at home (except a few business).
I just had a query regarding VPN software as I was struggling to find something suitable. A couple of helpful replies have pointed me in the right direction.
The other details are irrelevant to why I started this thread, but you can rest assured that I’ve got the security side covered. (I’m in a similar job to you)
