I have Shaw 30, getting pretty good speeds on the US servers.
Getting around 16 Mbs (or two MB/s on the torrents). Pretty decent for me
I use the client on my PCs. I don’t intent to be on the VPN 24/7
Good luck! There was a free trial when I signed up a couple three years ago. It’s not a lot of data, but gives you a good preview of the app.

OpenVPN for me too. Allows me secure access on public wifi. Allows me to connect back home to pull file or RDP to the desktop.
