What do the Up and Down values mean on the ProtonVPN app?

I tried to search for this and didn’t find anything right off-hand so asking here. What do these values mean (screenshot attached)? This is for the UDP value not the server load, plenty of documentation on that.

I wouldn’t think they represent your current up and download speeds as they are very low.

It is current upload and download rate. It is normal for it to be low if you arent using the network at that moment.

Those are the upload and download speeds.

My internet speed is usually around 129.22 Mbps, which I think is above average, I think. That means it would be 129,000 kbps, which isn’t going to be the case for VPN basic, I know. But, it’s showing on average around 35.0 KB/s (35,000kbps?) which sounds pretty slow, doesn’t it? Thanks for the reply!

It doesn’t mean on average. It means what you are using this instant. So if you are in the VPN app just watching the counter, you probably aren’t doing anything that is using data transfer.

Hmm, okay. That makes more sense why it’s low when I check it out. Thaks for that info. :ok_hand:t2:

One more question, maybe you can answer it. Will an internet speed check (at speed.net) give me a correct VPN connection internet speed result? Right now, when I am using the VPN connection it’s giving me around 124MBps will is very good but I don’t know about the technical detail enough to knwo for sure that’s the correct value. Thank you!

Yep, that is the way. 124 MBps seems to be generally around the expected value for your internet connection.

Thanks for your help! :ok_hand:t2:
