What exactly is UCI VPN and what can it do?

I’m sorry to ask but what exactly is UCI VPN? I’m also pretty curious what can it track while on and when it’s off? I’m a bit worried if any private info can be seen as I don’t like the idea of passwords or bank info being seen by another person that I have no clue who has access to it.

VPN has nothing to do with what you just described.

The UCI VPN basically allows you to access certain uci websites and servers from off campus. An example of this is the prereq clearing forms
Besides that, there is no point in using it

The VPN is good for doing research in classes like Writing 60. A lot of research studies are locked behind a paywall without the VPN, but UCI pays for these websites. And the VPN should be safe. Also, I’ve used it to view online books and documentaries on UCI Libraries while off campus.
